He was a refinery filter head operator with the Sugar Co. in Crockett 14 years. He also worked as a construction engineer on the Pine Flat Dam project. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He had belonged to the Sanger Masonic Lodge No.

316; the Scottish Rite Bodies of Fresno; the Tehran Shrine Temple; the Mount Tabor Shrine No. 28, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem; the Sojourner's Club; and the American Legion. He also was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his wife, Elna; a son, Paul of New Mexico; and three brothers, John and George, both of Crockett, and Hilary of Washington D.C. Almira Sykes Graveside services for Almira Sykes, 82, a lifelong resident of Fresno County, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Mountain View Cemetery.

Miss Sykes died Wednesday. She was a native of Sanger and a homemaker. She was affiliated with the First Methodist Church of Sanger. Surviving are three nieces, Geraldine Bettercourt, Beverly Blagg and Barbara Lasher, all of Fresno. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leland M. Brown LAGUNA HILLS Private interment for Leland M. Brown, 86, will be held at the Moritz Funeral Home in Montebello. Mr. Brown died Thursday.

Born in Missouri, he came with his family to Fresno County in 1902. He lived in Selma and Delano, among other cities, before moving to Southern California in He returned to the San Joaquin Valley in 1957 and retired to Laguna Hills in 1961. Mr. Brown was senior vice president of Security First National Bank's San Joaquin Valley Division and was instrumental in organizing the division. He started with the bank as a teller in Delano in 1927 and was quickly promoted to assistant manager of the Glendale branch.

He was area supervisor in the bank's headquarters office from 1945 to 1957. Surviving are his wife, Clemence, and a son, Leland Jr. of La Mirida. in of to in in a 70 Co. be was Catherine W.

He was quarterback of the Augustana College, South Dakota, football team and for many years as a sports equipment salesman in Fresno. Surviving are two daughters, Sue Bengston of Fresno and Jane Gray of Bakersfield; a brother, Bing of Hanford; a sister, Alma Burnett of Kingsburg; and three grandchildren. He worked as a mechanic. For the last nine years, he had lived in Oakhurst. are two sons, John of Oakland and Surviving, Reseda; a daughter, Gloria of Fresno; a brother, Edward Berry of Santa Rosa; and four grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Idalina; a son, Manuel of Tulare; a daughter, Lillian Fischer of Tulare; three brothers, Antonio I. Junio of the Azores, Jose I. Coito of San Jose and Francisco I. Coito of Canada; a sister, Conceicao Almeida of Newark; a stepmother, Ledia Coito of the Azores; and four grandchildren. Charlie L.

Hall CHOWCHILLA Services for Charlie L. Hall, 56, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Worden Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Chowchilla District Cemetery. Mr.

Hall died Wednesday. He was a native of Oklahoma and moved to Chowchilla in 1936. Later, moved Freemont where he lived for 20 years, returning to Chowchilla about four ago. He was an an Army veteran of World War YEARS, member of the Freemont Odd Fellows Lodge and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a retired machinist and welder.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, Ronald L. of Freemont; two daughters, Joy Ann Hall-Villareal of Hayward and Belma (cq) Roberts of Fresno; a brother, Everett of Chowchilla; two sisters, Melba Frantz of Chowchilla and Cora Agnes Snow of Hood; and four grandchildren. Paul A. Hathaway Services for Paul Alvin Hathaway, 51, of Fresno will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Calaveras Chapel of the Lisle Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Clovis Cemetery. Mr. Hathaway died Wednesday. He was born in Nebraska and moved to the San Joaquin Valley in 1950. He served with the Marine Corps in the Korean War.

He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints. Surviving are his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Joyce Humphrey of Clovis; brother, Robert of Nebraska.
