"Charles Ryskamp has made history for the Morgan Library, said Haliburton Fales II, president of the librarys board. Ryskamp might be able to apply his skill with endowments at the Frick, which has been running deficits in the last few years, according to David Collins, who will serve as the Fricks acting director starting Jan. 1. Ryskamp, who has a PhD from Yale in English literature is ex- pec ted to pay particular attention to the art-reference library the Frick obtained three years ago.

Amei Wafiach THE FRICK yesterday announced that Charles Rys-kamp, director of the Pierpont Morgan Library for the past 17 years, will become its director in June. Ryskamp, 58, will replace 45-year-old Everett Fahy, who is returning to the Metropolitan Museum of Art as chairman of the Department of European Painting. Fahy was in charge of the department in 1973, when he left after a series of disputes with then-director of the Met Thomas Hoving. He served at the Frick for 13 years. During that time, he oversaw, among other things, the cleaning of nearly every painting at the Frick and the construction of the museums first extension.
