North East Kossuth News JUNIOR PLAY AT TITONKA, OCT. 17 Titonka: The jurtior class play Unawares" will be given on Tuesday, October 17th at the Tyke Theatre. Miss Betty Holderoft Is directing the play. Mr. and Mrs.

Wm. Rlcklefs were at Mason City and Hampton Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. T.

A. Dunmlre spent the week end with relatives at Newton, Iowa. The Methodist missionary society will hold a luncheon Friday noon at the church. Mr. and Mrs.

Bernard Byers of Garner spent Sunday with the Andrew Krominga family. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Kuchenreuther spent Sunday with their son, Kenneth, and his wife at Burt. Mr.

and Mrs. Telko Seitsema and daughter, Grace, returned Friday from California, after having spent some time visiting. Ruth Welhousen, Dorothy Budlong and Harriet Schram, students at Cedar Falls, visited home folks over the week end. The last ball game of the Titonka high school season was held on Friday at Titonka with Lone Rock. Titonlta won the game.

Russell French forestry student at Iowa State College, Ames, spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard French. The members of the Doan church held a reception for Rev. and Mrs.

Patterson Friday evening. A fine blanket wag given the Pattersons. Electric service in town was suspended several hours Wednesday night because of a tree blowing down and falling across the high line. The hours for Sunday school and church services of the Lutheran church have been changed to 9:30 and 10:30 during the coming winter months. Mrs.

J. Breen and Mrs. Elmer Peterson left for Sioux City on Friday, returning Sunday evening. Mrs. John Steenhard of Lakota Buried on Sunday They visited with Mrs.

Peterson's daughter, Maxine. Dr. and Mrs. Howard Torgersen left for DCS Moines Sunday to attend the funeral of the doctor's brother, Edwin Torgersen who died early Sunday morning. Donovan Andrews and Robert Schutjer, students at Iowa State College at Ames, spent the week end with their parents.

Robert's father, George Schutjer brought the boys home from Ames Saturday and took them back Sunday afternoon. Promotion Exercises In S. S. at Lakota Lakota: The Methodist Sunday School held their promotion exercises Sunday and Orvllle Koppen gave a report on the conference he attended at Webster City as delegate from Lakota and Ledyard. A family dinner in the church dining room followed.

John Steenhard, 83 years old, passed away last Thursday afternoon at two o'clock following a heart attack. Mrs. Steenhard's husband passed away July 29, .1933, nnd since that time her daughter, Lena Steenhard has cared for her mother. Although the health of Mrs. Steenhard has not been of the best for several years, she was bedfast only nine weeks, Altjc Smidt, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Jasper Smidt was born in Wener, Ostfrieslond, Germany, on Dec. 27, 1855, nnd on April 27, 1884, was married to John Stecnhnrd In Germany. Fourteen children were born to them, six girls and eight boys, six having died. Those living are Jasper, of Armstrong, John, Dick, Harm; Mrs.

Grace Harms and Lena, nil of Lakota, nnd vicinity, Mrs. Alta Ahlfs of Woden and Mrs. Tena Lurson of Adrian, Minn. She also leaves 22 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren nnd one brother, Harm Smidt in Germany. Jasper Smidt of Lnkota is a son of her brother, Harm.

Mr, nnd Mrs. Steenhnrd cnme to America in 1889 nnd settled nea Acklcy, Iowa, nnd moved to Lnttl mer in 1897 innd then to a fnrm Kossuth county south of Germnnia now Lnkota in 1804, where they liv ed until 1921 when they retired an moved to Lakota where they bull a comfortable home and have sine resided. Michael Winter, who Is seriously ill. Mrs. Alice Rlppentrop, who died at Buffalo Center recently, was a former resident of this vicinity and lived here-when her children were small, but moved to the Buffalo Center vicinity before her husband, the late C. C. Rlppentrop died.

Mrs. Clinton Vaux, Mt. Vernon, Washington, was a visitor at the Samuel and Harry Warburtons, on Friday, Mrs. Vaux brought her parents who also live in Washington, Austin, their former home, to visit relatives. Mrs.

The Presbyterian missionary society spent Tuesday at the C. A. Gutknechts where they made sponges for the White Cross. Mr. and Mrs.
