announce the approaching mar riage of their daughter Grace and William Arnold son of Mr and Mrs Arnold of Col lege Station December 17 at 7:30 pm in the College Heights Assembly of God church riends1 'social group a holiday themed coffee was given by Mrs Hoover Al ford Saturday morning in her home on Enfield Drive In the Christmas decorations of the home were various scenes and arrangements developed with wreaths gay tinted baubles and red satin bows while on the sun porch a traditional red and greenChristmas tree an added attraction On the silver appointed table the leading color of the fashion year petal pink was accented in the central decor of pink frosted roses and the cloth of pink satin damask Mrs red Claybrook of Hous ton sister in law of the host ess presided at the silver cof fee service and also served from trays were other delicacies During the morning the host ess gave her gifts of silver trays and also attractive corsages to Miss Bullock and Mrs ullier Sharing the most beloved and most festive season of the year was emphasized and glori fied in three homes of Bryan riday afternoon during the tra ditional Christmas Pilgrimage and Tea of the Bryan Garden Club rom the hours of four well past eight ofclock in the eve ning hundreds of lovers of the artistic and unique called at the homes of the tour these were the recently completed home of Dr and Mrs Grant Jr the home of Mr and Mrs Corbusier and that of Mr and Mrs Sparks In the Grant home where Mrs Varner was chair man Mrs Lucille oster and Mrs Joe aulk gave greeting after visitors had admired the greenery and lights outlining the front windows and the ter racotta porch with hurricane lamps holding lighted red can dles Mrs A Smith Jr arrang ed the snow bird and candle de cor in the entrance hall and in the living room the mantel fea tured magnolia leaves white doves and golden candleholders A glowing fire cast a gleam over the Christmas tree with its snow sprinkled blue taffeta swags blue balls and snow birds of tinsel tulle Mrs Butler and Mrs Ira Kelley re ceived in this room A forma table for the Christ mas dinner arranged by Mrs Astin and Mrs Allister Waldrop held a compote of gilded fruits with antique can delabra at each side with simi lar decor on the buffet while the breakfast room and kitchen with Mrs Andres and Mrs Mark Norton and Mrs Leon Hayes in charge featured colorful red green and white tints which harmonized with the setting of the sunporch presid ed over by Mesdames Cole Burkhart and Searcy and Mrs Grant The guest bedroom the mas ter bedroom the room and the den were decorated respectively by Mrs Pitt man Mrs A Lynch Mrs Baskin Mrs John Bar ron and Mrs Mit Dansby and featured a variety of attractive adornment ranging from plac ings of golden balls white can dles mistletoe sprays Christ mas packages and gold and red berries In the room above the twin beds were gar lai Is of little gold beads head ed by illuminated gold and white angels on the white ce Local Artists Demonstrate Yuletide Decor At a meeting of the Auxiliary of the Seventh Dis trict Dental Society in Memor ial Student Center Mrs Lyle Thomasson of Crockett presi dent presided welcomed mem bers and guests as well as a new member Mrs Good win Jr who has recently come with her husband and family to reside in Bryan Mrs Thomas son later discussed dental health plans for the forthcoming Na tional Dental Health Week Members of the auxiliary welomed were: Mrs Madely and Mrs A John son Navasota Mrs Walt man Mrs A Lyons Hearne Mrs A Mallett Jasper Mes dames Ritchey Bock Goodwin Jr Enloe Krenek all of Bry an Special guests were Mrs Ralph Thornton wife of Dr Ralph Thornton of ort Worth guest speaker for the Dental Society in their simultaneous meeting and also Mrs Lova Edwards mother of Mrs Ed ward Madeley Mrs Edwards grew or provided much of the greenery dried and fresh which the guest artists Mrs Edward Madeley and Mrs AI Nelson used in their unusual and artis tic arrangements made and dis played for entertainment of members and guests Mrs Madeley program chairman presented Mrs Nel son and Mrs Madeley who gave running comment as they fash ioned both traditional and em decor for the home In the group of seventeen different ar rangements the range was from the simplest woodland winter scenes to formal arrangements of dazzling white branches snow ponsettias in a white urn on marble base the perfect bal ance achieved with a minia ture crystal ice skater and a block of shimmering quartz Among other outstanding fea tures was an early American Christmas tree trimmed in sim plest style and placed beside a modern all white tree trim med with Dainty Bess roses and butterflies dar chest a pink Santa Claus drove a white reindeer and sleigh toward a miniature pink and white Christmas tree adorn ed with tiny pink bells In this room the hostesses were mem bers of the Green Patch Garden Club for junior gardeners Going on down picturesque East 31st street visitors ap proached the door of the Cor busier home where a crescent shaped wreath of proverbial greenery and glitter was super imposed Mrs Lamar Jones was chair ings of pink and red camellias grown in the garden of the home The living room also had a pink and gold tjieme while on the solarium and green Christmas tree with modernistic tree skirt with swirls of gold was an added feature Going on into the family bed rooms visitors viewed gayly wrapped Christmas packages holiday sequined wreaths fresh roses grown by Mrs Les ter were noted on occasional tables under the glow of candle Raymond Reiser A McClure Lewis Coulter Smith I Bemath Parker Mike Barron John Naylor John Caldwell Mackin Jones Travis Lipscomb and Miss Dorothy Et tle Seated at the ticket table were Mrs Joe Daisa and Mrs Dexter Dabbs Pilgrimage visitors concluded the tour at the Sparks home where Mrs Charles Myers was chairman of decorative ef fects which featured a in all of the formal reception suite etuS pianists played questions i that parents may have A splendid reference book for all collectors of seashells and for naturalists will Jae Ab bott's A I A SEA SHELLS The book is primarily intended for identification work but chapters on the natural his tory of shells the life story of snails clams and other mol lusks and on collecting make it of much wider interest and usefulness Its numerous illus trations many of them in color are outstanding The book may be checked out rances Horwich who con ducts the highly successful TV show for children Dong has written a book in Collaboration with Reinaid Wer renrath
