Weather Salina City commissioners will be asked Monday to consider an agreement with Salina Motel Partnership, the buyer of the former Hilton Inn, to allow the partnership to acquire title to the motel property. The partnership plans to finance the purchase and renovation of the 144-room motel with $1.65 million in industrial revenue bonds. Until the bonds are sold, the firm has secured a commitment for interim financing to acquire possession and begin remodeling. The interim financing will allow the partnership to pay the $719,700 in outstanding industrial revenue bonds. In information supplied to commissioners, City Manager Rufus Nye said the partnership hopes to obtain the interim financing and secure a deed to the property June 27, at which time the firm can begin remodeling.

Nye said the result of approving the agreement will be to give the partnership clear title to the property. If commissioners authorize approval of the agreement, the city will waive a $50,000 payment in lieu of tax that was established when the original industrial revenue bond issue was approved to finance construction of the motel. Nye said the $50,000 was to have been paid when the bonds were paid. The original bonds were approved along with 10 years of tax forgiveness on the property. The $50,000 was to be compensation for keeping the motel off the tax roll for a decade.

In related action, commissioners will hear a request from the partnership to have a public hearing on the possible issuance of $1.65 million in industrial revenue bonds for the motel purchase and renovation. In other business, commissioners will consider a resolution to formally allow left turns at Santa Fe and Iron. For your information Hospital admissions Asbory E. Thyral Crown, 603 Maple; June M.
