I bought nylon lace curler caps (that come stretched over a circular piece of cardboard). Leaving the cardboard in, I gently bent it in the middle, bringing the two sides up, and attached the handle to each of the sides. The handle was made from a strip of cardboard covered with leftover material from the wedding dress.

I also added two or three strips of elastic sewn to each side (inside) about half way down. This holds the sides of the basket in place. Then I took a square piece of foam rubber and covered it with the other curler cap (cardboard removed) and had a beautiful pillow for the ring. A Proud Mother. After camping three years, I just learned something about starting charcoal fires.

One day while out in the woods, I got the idea of using a bottle of inexpensive rubbing alcohol. I poured a little on a log and some crumpled-up newspapers. It burned well. I also found out you can put this on the log and let it sit a couple minutes to soak into the bark. Also great on charcoal.

Heloise This hint is especially for secretaries. If you have to change the ribbon on your own typewriter, I think you'll agree with me that it's a very distasteful job because your hands get awfully dirty. My advice is: Before you change your ribbon, wash your hands generously with soap, but do not wash it off. Let your hands dry and then change the ribbon. When you're finished, wash your hands and the ink from the ribbon comes right off.
