A Southern judge finds passions aroused and his reputation at stake when he presides over a trial in which nine young black men are accused of raping two white women Taft, H-B Program Sales, in association with the Australian Broadcasting Commission, will place a live-action, 30-minute series pilot film before the cameras on location in Australia for release in prime access syndication, it was jointly announced by Michael Gould, vice president and general manager of Taft, H-B and James Davern, director of television drama, Australian Broadcasting. Commission. Taft, H-B has finalized an accord with Kellogg Company to sponsor the series. The pilot will air as a special during January, 1977 on the ABC owned- and-operated stations. Deal was arranged through Kellogg's advertising agency, which will barter the series in other markets for airing in fall, 1977. The series, titled "Taggert's Treasure,” stars Don Reid in the lead. Joseph Barbera and William Hanna are executive producers, with Burt Topper as director and story editor for the project, which began production November 8. "The return to action- adventure entertainment in prime access is long overdue,” stated Gould. "It is only possible in this instance because a national advertiser and a major broadcast group feel the project is of such high potential, they closed a deal based on a pilot script rather than waiting to see the actual pilot film.” He said the program will be a contemporary live-action adventure series filmed in exotic locations with American creative talent both be fore and behind the cameras. "The series is planned as a continuing story, but each episode will be a self-contained program.” ★ ★ * The Fonz,” one of America's most popular folk heroes, has become the first television character to be directly linked with a coin-operated amusement machine with "Fonz, a brand-new motorcycle action game developed by SEGA of America. According to David M. Rosen, chairman of the board and president of SEGA Enterprises, Inc. of Redondo Beach, Cal., SEGA's new "Fonz” could well be the first in a new coalition of show business and America's rapidly expanding family entertainment machine industry. Inspired by the motorcycle hero of the top-rated television series, Happy Days, the "Fonz" machine was introduced at the trend- setting Music Operators of America annual convention, Nov. 12-14, in Chicago. Through the magic of video screen solid state electronics technology, SEGA's "Fonz” enables players to literally become their motorcycle hero in an action-packed race game. Both road and cycles are seen in true perspective on the game screen, while the player operates realistically- functioning handlebars to simulate high speed competition riding complete with authentic motor sounds. ★ ★ * Donny Most, who costars as Ralph Malph in the ABC comedy series Happy Days, Tuesdays (8PM), has joined the ranks of actors who are singers, as well. Donny, who has studied voice since his boyhood in New York, has cut a record which is being released by United Artists Records. Donny's first single is "All Roads, with "Better to Forget Him” on the flip side. The record was produced by Danny Iordan.
