Two Army Men Sent To Europe FORT ftlLEV, RAW.—Privates Dean W. Meyer and Richard R. Sarchet, of Algona, are scheduled to be scot to Europe from Fort Riley, Kan., in July as part of Operation Gyroscope, the Army's new unit rotation plan. • Their unit, the 10th Infantry Division, is the first division to move under the Gyroscope plan It will replace the 1st Infantry Division which will return to the U. S. Private Meyer, son of Mr and Mrs William H. Meyer, is a driver in Battery A of the division's 43d Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He attended Lone Rock High School. Private Sarchet, a driver in Battery A, is the son of Roy A. Sachet, Route 2. He is a 1951 graduate of Algona high school. The two men entered the Army last December. LEDYARD NEWS Ledyard — Mr and Mrs Ray Wcnlworth Went to Emmons on Sunday to attend the 30th wedding anniversary of Mrs Wentworth's brother and wife, Mr and Mrs Fred Lamping. Mrs Wentworth poured coffee at the reception. Mr and Mrs Harry L. Underwood of North Hollywood, Calif., visited old friends here Vast Monday and were dinner guests of Mrs Gertrude Wiemer. Mrs Underwood is the former Jessalyn Dutton, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Oscar Dutton. who were former Ledyard residents. This is Mrs Underwood's first trip back since the family moved from here when she was 12 years old. They had come to Algeria to attend the Dutton reunion. On Tuesday the friends of Mrs Flizabcih Anderson gathered at homo to help her celebarte her birthday. Sho received many lovely gifts and cards, and a delicious lunch was served. The Evangelical and Reformed Sunday school held their annual picnic in the park Sunday after the morning services. Mr and Mrs Glenn Dyer and twin daughters of Milwaukee came Monday of last week to visit Mrs Eunice Dyer and Howard. Mr and Mrs Fred Munyer and children left Sunday for Rugby, No. Dak., to visit his mother, Mrs A. Munyer, and his brothers and sisters. Mr and Mrs Harold Herzog and family, Mrs Louise Herzog and Raymond, Mr and Mrs Ted Green and family and Mrs William Green went to Clarion on Sunday to attend the annual Herzog Krueger reunion. There v/erc about 63 in attendance. Mr and Mrs Herzog and children also called on Mr and Mrs William Kppps. On Sunday afternoon a miscellaneous shower was held in the Sacred Heart Hall honoring Lorraine Lentsch whose marriage to Robert Hamilton will take place in early July. Rita Garry was in charge of the following program: Piano solo by Mrs Harold Inglet; a reading by Mrs Everett Teems; solo by Mrs Vernon Haag accompanied by Mrs Inglet: Poems, read by Mrs Jack McDonald; Solo, by Melva Burrow accompanied by her mother, Mrs Glenn Burrow. The bride to be was then presented many beautiful gifts, after which a delicious lunch was served by the hostesses. Buyers Return Roy Bjustrom and Frank Moulton. of Bjustrom's Furniture Co., have returned after a week's buying trip to the semi-annual furniture shows in Chicago. While in the windy city, the two tramped miles in the Merchandise Marl and the Furniture Mart, viewing displays of furniture manufacturers, and making selections which will be on display at the Bjustrom store here.
