Van Der Heyden served as offensive coordinator at Clemson, working with guards and centers.

I King has been at Louisiana State the past two years working with the offensive line. "Larry and Buddy have worked with me before. Ford said. "They can communicate with (young people, they can coach and they can go in homes and recruit. jThey were the first two assistants I went after.

I ve always had two assistants work with the offensive line. It makes more sense to have two coaches rather than one working with that many positions," Ford said in a release. Ford was head coach at Clem-son for 11 seasons, until his contract was bought out in 1989. Van Der Heyden was at Qem-' son for 14 seasons. He was a three-year letterman at Iowa State, where he served as a graduate as-( sistant before becoming a full-time assistant for the Cyclones in 1965.

After three years at Iowa State, he went to Drake as an assistant Van Der Heyden spent time at Indiana State, East Carolina and Virginia before spending four years at Memphis State before moving to Clemson. King played at Clemson. He i was an assistant coach at Wofford College for a year before becom-ing an offensive line coach at "Clemson in 1975. He stayed 'through the 1982 season. lung coached for a year with the Arizona Wranglers of the lUSFL.

He returned to the college ranks in 1984 at Wake Forest, where he spent three yean.
