W. Murch are the delegates from this county to the Democratic State Convention. They will support Harrison, for Governor, very likely. Now that dry weather prevails, will likely be improved to gather the crop which will be a good one, if it can be properly housed.

It was thought after tho severe frost that occurred, that the strawberry harvest would be a light one, but judging from the way the pickers were employed the past week and the beauty of the fruit that is being delivered, there is a handsome crop. Mr. R. T. Whitman, who is farming in Dakota, came down the other day.

Ciops are looking finely there, the corn being larger thau it is with us. They escaped the May frost that cut things so badly here. Belvidere will celebrate the Fourth by numerous family picnics and reunions, the most pleasant way to spend a hot summer day. Mr. John C.

Foote has been quite sick since his return from Geneva Lake last week. Mr. Wm. Hovey's residence has been painted up in fine style, greatly improving the appearance thereof. Conspicuous upon the platform dur ing the graduating exercises List Wednesday evening, was an elegant crimson plush chair, given to Prof.

Shorrill by tbe pupils of the North side school. Mr. Colby Avery will soon undertake a very difficult job of building moving at Kingston, of moving the elevator at that place. Miss Avis Humphrey will attend the Normal school at Byron, for about two months. Mr.

Preston Clark is painting his house, it being in the last stages of completion. Mrs. L. C. Willard presented her husband with a little daughter last week.

The Belvidere Brick and Tile will furnish brick for the new bank building sooh to be erected. Thursday last Lucius and Blanche Gould started on a visit to Lincoln. where they will spend the sum mer with their sister, Mrs. J. A.

Rollins. Mrs. Dr. Pettit, of Cedar Falls, Iowa. is visiting her parents, Mr.

DeMunn was called to Prairie du Chien last week by tbe seri ous illness of her father. Yesterday morning a telegram was received that he was dead. Married In Chicago June 20th, by Rev. Dr. Thomas, Mr.

Charles M. Keeler, and Miss Lulu C. Nixon. The invitations were limited only to the in timate friends and relatives. Mr.

and Mrs. Keeler have many friends in Belvidere who will wish them a future of prosperity and happiness. They will be at home after July 9th at the residence of Mrs. F. C.

Mrs. W. U. Coggeshall, aed 87 years, 1 month and 20 days. Mrs.

Coggeshall was the mother of Mrs. E. H. Avery, of this city. Mr.

and Mrs. Sherman, of Chicago, are the guests of Mis. Walter Jones. Olapp and Mrs. Cezzens, of Chicago, are visiting their parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Hiram Gray. Mr. Ren. Stewart is out from Chicago for a week's vacation.

Mrs. C. E. Drake has removed from Belvidere to Denver CoL, where she will make it her home. Miss Clara Gage home from an extended visit at Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Mr. Henry Bowley speared a 10-pound pickerel last week. Mr. Chas. Walker and family will spend the Fourth in town.

Mr. Geo. Rose has opened a laundry at his residence on the South side. i New Decoration cer, un the South side was entered by a burglar on Tuesday night last week and S50 in money stolen. A negro, who had been loafing about for a day or two was suspected, especially as he had left town.

Information was got of him at the Junction and Marshal Covey went down and secured him. On the negro's person was found four ten dollar pieces, seven silver dollars, and a lot of small silver, the identical money stolen from Mr. Spencer, as was proven by a Canadian copper coin which Mr. S. has had in his possession far years.

Also was found a fine, Any rase silver watch. Waltham nuute? Uartlett movement, with gold cbam: This was not lost by Mr. Spencer. V. s.

-The burglar had an examination jeslerday before Justice Hovey, who rouimitttid him for trial in default of 1,000 bonds. He is now in jail. Mr. E. E.

Brown started last Wednesday for his homo in Normal, Ills. He leaves many friends behind, made during the three years of his residence in Belvidere, as principal of the South High school. We received a call from John Erwin a former Belvidere boy, now occupying a position in the U. S. Pension otllee at Washington.

The disturbance creatod at the S. B. II. graduating exercises, it is stated by siicrilT Ames, was made principally by ytmng ladies. That was bad enough but not much wor.e than tho several mothers who attended the exercises ac companied by their babes.

Thoy were uncontrollable. Sheriff Ames couldn't begin to quiet them. While babies are well enough in their place, their place isn in a crowded assembly, and their uWiice is uppreciated more than thoir presence. We have received a copy of tho Bur net. Texas.
