(AP) Senior quarterback Daryl Dickey threw two touchdown passes as the 19th-ranked Tennessee defeated Memphis State 17-7 in a college football game Saturday. Dickey completed eight of 16 passes for 128 yards, with seven completions in the first half. His only second-half completion lost three yards. The victory, before 49,617 fans at the Liberty Bowl, was the 10th in the 10-game series for the Vols. Tennessee now is 5-1-2 for the season.

Memphis State fell to 2-6-2. All the scoring came in the first half. The closest the Tigers came to scoring was on a drive that reached the Vols 11 early in the final period. But the march fizzled, and Thomas Ingles missed a 29-yard field goal attempt. The Vols scored first with a 24-yard field goal by Carlos Reveiz.

It was set up by a Memphis State fumble on a Tennessee punt to the Tigers' 16. 15 Louisiana State 14-14 in a Southeastern Conference football game. LSU missed a chance to win the game when sophomore kicker Ron Lewis missed a 24-yard field goal with five seconds remaining. Trailing with 1:23 left, Jelks threw a flea-flicker TD pass to quarterback Mike Shula from the 2-yard line, capping a 68-yard drive. Jelks, who ran 15 times for 87 yards, scored Alabama's first touchdown midway through the first quarter on a 33-yard run. LSU scored consecutive touchdowns to open the third period the first on a 49-yard run by Garry James, the other on a 67-yard pass from Jeff Wickersham to Wenzell Davis.

Alabama has a 6-2-1 overall record and 3-1-1 in the SEC. LSU is 5-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the SEC. The game was played before scouts from several bowls games. Shula, the nation's most efficient passer entering the game, completed 12 of 21 passes for 157 yards. Wickersham, the most productive passer in LSU history, had 12 completions in 24 attempts for 214 yards.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) Michigan quarterback Jim Harbaugh connected on three scoring passes while a stifling defense recorded its third shutout of the season Saturday as the ninth-ranked Wolverines rolled to a 47-0 Big Ten Conference football victory over Purdue. Harbaugh burned the Boilermakers' secondary for 11 consecutive first-half completions, including scoring plays of 9 yards to tight end Eric Kattus, and 34 and 65 yards to freshman flanker John Kolesar as Michigan built a 28-0 halftime lead. The Wolverines, 7-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the Big Ten, capitalized on two Purdue mistakes to take a 14-0 lead with just seven seconds gone in the second quarter. Purdue's Steve Griffin fumbled a Michigan punt at his 23 and Harbaugh capped a three-play drive with a touchdown strike to Kattus opening the scoring with 3:34 remaining in the opening period.

On the ensuing possession, the Wolverines' David Arnold partially blocked a Ernie Schramyr punt, giving Michigan a first down at the Boilermakers' 34. Three plays later, Kolesar slipped behind the Purdue scecondary, gathered in a pass from Harbaugh at the 4 and struggled into the end zone. The Wolverines increased their lead to 21-0 with 4:36 remaining in the first half on Gerald White's 1-yard plunge and got their fourth score with only 25 seconds left when Harbaugh again found Kolesar behind the Purdue defense and hit him on a 65-yard scoring play. Substitute running back Thomas Wilcher scored from 2 yards and the Wolverines got a safety in the third quarter, stretching the lead to 37-0. The Wolverines completed the rout on Mike Gillette 36-yard field goal and Phil Webb's 64-yard TD run in the final period.

Harbaugh finished with 12 completions in 13 attempts for 233 yards and three scores. Purdue quarterback Jim Everett, who entered the game hitting on nearly 64 percent of his passes, connected on 12 of 22 for only 96 yards, was sacked three times and failed to produce a score for the Boilermakers, who fell to 4-5 and 2-4. Brigham Young 44 Utah St. 0 LOGAN, Utah (AP) Robbie Bosco passed for a pair of touchdowns and Vai Sikanema dashed for two scores as loth-ranked Brigham Young crushed Utah State 44-0 in a swirling snow storm Saturday in college football. Before leaving the game late in the second period with a pinched nerve in his upper left arm, Bosco completed 14 of 19 passes for 220 yards in staking the Cougars to a 21-0 lead.

The victory boosted the Cougars of the Western Athletic Conference to an 8-2 record and dropped the Aggies of the Pacific Coast AthleticLSSociation to 2-8. While a half -foot of snow fell on a record 29,024 fans at Romney Stadium, Bosco engineered scoring drives of 75, 80 and 94 yards. He passed 7 yards to Mark Bellini for the first score, Lakei Heimuli bulled 1 yard for the second, and with 9:30 left in the second quarter, Bosco hit David Miles on a 36-yard scoring strike. Gary Webster's 27-yard field goal on the last play of the first alf made it 24-0 as BYU's defense and the snow paralyzed Utah State's offense. Late in the third period, BYU linebacker Leon White grabbed the second of five Cougars' interceptions and rambled 34 yards down the sideline for a touchdown, making it 31-0.

With Blaine Fowler at quarterback, the Cougars marched 72 yards early in the fourth period and scored when Sikanema swept left end for 18 yards. Sikanema 's second touchdown, a 9-yard run, came three plays after Rodney Thomas intercepted a Matt Stevens pass and carried it to the Utah State 20. That made the score 44-0 with 9:51 left in the game. Utah State's deepest penetration came late in the game following a BYU fumble on the Cougars' 35. The Aggies managed to reach the BYU 5-yard line, out a penalty and a fourth-down uicompletion preserved the shutout.

South Carolina State 32 Virginia Union 7 RICHMOND, Va. (AP) South Carolina State converted three Virginia Union fumbles into touchdowns as the Bulldogs rolled to a 32-7 college football win Saturday. The Panthers, 5-4, gained 191 yards on the ground to State's 169, but three interceptions in Bulldog territory nulified their offensive efforts. With 10:51 left in the first quarter, James Cunningham connected on the halfback option to wide receiver Cecil Holt for the Bulldogs' first score. Union fumbled the kickoff at its 25 and Sam Felder recovered to set up the next Bulldog score over East Carolina Saturday, led by tailback Brent Fullwood, who ran for three touchdowns and 153 yards.

Starting Auburn tailback Bo Jackson Tailed to score a touchdown for only the third game this season. He gained 73 yards on 14 carries. The non-conference football win lifted Auburn to a 7-2 record, while East Carolina fell to 2-7. Auburn is 2-2 in the Southeastern Conference. Fullwood, a 6-foot, 196-pound junior from St.

Cloud, scored on touchdown runs of four, 45 and 12 yards. Free safety Tom Powell also took an interception 52 yards for a touchdown. Late in the fourth quarter, Kyle Collins scored Auburn's final touchdown on a 4-yard run that was set up by another interception. East Carolina's only touchdown came on a 5-yard run by tailback Tony Baker midway through the Fourth quarter. Baker picked up 69 yards on 11 carries on the day.

The Pirates' only other score came on a 19-yard field goal by Jeff Heath in the third quarter. East Carolina held Auburn scoreless in the first quarter, but Fullwood's first touchdown run came with less than a minute gone in the second quarter. Steven Cobb's four-yard run with 8:01 left in the first period. The Panthers mounted a drive on their next possession but quarterback Sandy McDonald was stopped on fourth-and-one at the Bulldog 18. The Bulldogs drove 82 yards, capping the march with quarterback Roscoe Darnell's 18-yard toss to wide receiver Eric Smith.

The same duo connected on the two-point conversion pass to put the Bulldogs up 22-0. The Bulldogs' last touchdown came when McDonald threw to tailback Charles Holmes. Holmes fumbled, and the ball was recovered by cornerback Wesley McGriff at the Panther 26. Cobb dived one yard for the score to make it 29-0 at 9:50. Fullback Thomas Green carried in the Panthers' lone score, a seven-yard run, with 4:43 to go in the half.

The Bulldogs added a 25-yard Richard Dix field goal with 5:36 left in the game to round out the scoring. Arkansas 20 Baylor 14 LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) Greg Thomas' first pass completion of the game went 50 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown that lifted 12th-ranked Arkansas to a 20-14 victory over No. 11 Baylor Saturday and scrambled the Southwest Conference football race.

Luther Franklin caught Thomas' toss inside the Baylor 20 and eluded a last defender inside the 10. It was only the fourth pass attempt of the game for Thomas, who had rallied the Razorbacks from a 14-0 third-quarter deficit. He shared time in the first half with Mark Calcagni and looked shaky at times. intercepted four of Jack Trudeau's passes, the first coming on his second throw of the day, to end the Illinois quarterback's NCAA record string of Passes without an interception at Illinois, suffering it's worst defeat since losing to Chicago 63-0 in 1906, did not cross midfield in the first half. Trudeau finished with 26 completions in 47 attempts for 208 yards.

Syracuse 24 Navy 20 ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) Syracuse edged Navy 24-20 as the Orangemen recovered a fumble at their own 3-yard line with 2: 18 remaining to preserve the victory. Troy Saunders caught a pass from Navy quarterback Billy Byrne, who was hit by Syracuse defensive back Cooper Gardiner. The ball squirted away and was recovered by David Holmes. The triumph boosted Syracuse's record to 5-3.

The Midshipmen are 3-6. Quarterback Don McPherson Eut Syracuse ahead for good when ran 2 yards for his second touchdown of the game with 5:37 to play. Byrne broke Navy records for total yards in game with 399 and total yarage in a season with 1,694, and records for completions in a game with 37, and a season, 151. Syracuse' marched 75 yards after taking the opening KicKoti. The Navy defense stiffened and the Orangemen had to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Don McAulay.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Freshman Keith Henderson bolted 76 and 32 yards for first-half touchdowns and freshman Tim Worley raced 89 yards in the closing minutes as 17th ranked Georgia upset No. 1 Florida 24-3 in a Southeastern Conference football game Saturday. The loss for Florida ended the nation's longest unbeaten streak at 18 games and will cost the Gators the No. 1 ranking they had attained for the first time in history earlier in the week.

It also was the first setback for the Gators since Galen Hall became coach three games into the 1984 season. He now is 15-1-1. Georgia's defense, led by end Greg Waters, kept pressure on Florida quarterback Kerwin Bell throughout the game, and the Gators were unable to sustain lengthy drives. Jeff Dawson missed a pair of field goals before converting from 36 yards after the Bulldogs had built a 14-0 lead. Henderson raced 76 yards up the middle with 5:24 left in the opening quarter, giving Georgia a lead it never relinquished.

Henderson's 32-yard scoring jaunt capped a 53-yard drive early in the second quarter, and the Bulldogs lifted their halftime lead to 17-3 on Steve Crumley's 32-yard field goal 15 seconds before intermission. In the final eight minutes, Florida moved from its 2 to the Georgia 7 where John L. Williams fumbled and Steve Boswell recovered for Georgia at the 8. One play later, Worley went 89 yards for his score with 3:58 remaining. Georgia is 7-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the SEC.

Florida, losing in the SEC for the first time in 10 games, fell to 7-1-1 and 4-1. Penn State 31 Cincinnati 10 CINCINNATI (AP) Junior quarterback John Shaffer passed for one touchdown and ran for another Saturday, rallying No. 2-ranked Penn State to a 31-10 football victory over the University of Cincinnati. Penn State, 9-0, fell behind 10-7 in the second quarter before running off 24 consecutive points and preserving its bid for the No.

1 ranking. Georgia beat No. 1 Florida 24-3 Saturday. Junior tailback D.J. Dozier keyed Penn State's power running attack with 112 yards and one touchdown against the Bearcats.

Shaffer had a ragged first half, completing only 6 of 17 passes for 70 yards. One was a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Bob Williams for the game's first points. Cincinnati fought back with a field goal and a touchdown on a pass interception. Shaffer finally got the Nittany Lions' offense rolling before the half, quieting the homecoming crowd of 33,528 at Riverfront Stadium. He completed a 32-yard pass to tight end Dean DiMidio, highlighting an 11-play, 80-yard scoring drive.

Iowa (AP) Chuck, Long threw four touchdown 'passes, including two in a 35 point first-quarter outburst, to set Big Ten Conference season and career records as sixth-ranked Iowa blitzed Illinois 59-0 Saturday. Long also had a pair of touchdown passes in the second quarter as Iowa, bouncing back from a 22-13 loss to Ohio State, stormed to a 49-0 halftime lead and sent its record to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten. It was the most points ever scored in one half by an Iowa team and the Hawkeyes most lopsided victory over Illinois. Long hit Robert Smith on touchdown bombs of 49 and 43 yards in the first quarter and fired scoring strikes of one yard to Mike Flagg and eight yards to Scott Helverson in the second period. He left the game midway through the third quarter after completing 22 of 30 passes for 289 yards.

Fullback David Hudson scored on runs of one and 10 yards in the first quarter and tailback Ronnie Harmon raced 46 yards for another touchdown. The four touchdown passes gave Long 25 for the season and 72 in his career. Purdue's Mark Herrmann and Mike Phipps shared the old Big. Ten season record of 23 and Herrmann held the previous career mark of 71. Long is the Big Ten career total offense leader and needs 341 passing yards in the final two games to break Herrmann's career mark of 9,946.

Illinois, 4-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the league, contributed to its undoing by committing six first-half turnovers, three of which Iowa converted into touchdowns. Iowa Chuck Long Four touchdown passes including two in a 35 point first quarter..
