Provancher, back In Stateville penitentiary to serve out the remainder of his 25 year term for the slaying of a Chemung tavernkeeper, Thursday filed a motion in Winnebago- circuit court asking Judge William R. Dusher to vacate his June 29 order re turning Provancher to prison." Provancher, who had filed for retrial under the post conviction act, charged Judge Dusher did not hold the hearing ordered by the Illinois Supreme court on Now 20.

1953, and that the judge denied Provancher's application for change of venue and failed to point this out in the order. The motion also charges that Judge Dusher denied Provancher hearing on amended petition for release and that the Judge erred in ruling he had no power ti discharge Provancher. Beginning Swimmers Class Has Openings Several openings have occurred in classes for beginning swimmers at the Belvidere park pool. it was reported Friday, by Terry Ryan, pool manager, who said new enrollees in beginning classes will be accepted at the pool at 10 a.m. Monday. Pvt. Daniel Sullivan arrived home last week from Fort Leon ard Wood, to visit his wife, Nancy, and the Daniel H. Sulli van family. On Wednesday, Private and Mrs. Sullivan were called to LaCrosse, by the critical illness of Mrs.

Sunday 'at the Ogle county fairgrounds, Oregon. A crowd of 3,000 persons is expected for the day, according to J. Carlson, a member of the executive committee. The Turtle Creek grange from Beloit, will open the program with a presentation by the grange drill team. At 2 p.m.

Beatty H. Dimit, master of the Pennsylvania state grange, will be the speaker of the day and will be introduced by Dorsey Kirk, master of the Illinois state grange. One of the features on the program will be an accordion band from the Arthur Studios, Rock-ford. Other acts include Bud Jones, a blind trick rider, who will present acts of trick and fancy riding, a trained high school horse and several dog acts. Bozo, the clown, will also be there, and miniature tractor races for the children will be featured throughout the day.

S. Herman Wright is secretary of the organization, and Carlson is the local member of the executive committee. TENNESSEE PICNIC DRAWS MORE THAN 400 The 13th annual Tennessee picnic Sunday at Lowden Memorial state park was attended by more than 400 person's, most of them natives of Tennessee. From this group eight winners will be chosen to represent Boone county at the state fair. Exhibits of the girls' projects to be judged in the 'morning, start ing at 9 a.m., include various food arrange ments and table covers.

Food demonstrations will begin at 9:30 a.m. with each club hav ing food projects presenting at least one demonstration. All girls enrolled in clothing projects will model their garments in the dress evue in the afternoon. ANN HENDRICKSON HONORED AT TEA Ann Ginette Hendrickson was guest of honor at a tea given Thursday in the home of Mrs. Robert Wright, 627 Caswell street.

Miss Hendrickson will become the bride of Gary Turner, -Mrs. Wright's brother, July 31. Mrs. Allan Turner, mother of the prospective groom, presided at the coffee service. In the center of the table was a large bridal doll, surrounded by begonias and roses.

They held Roy Howard, 29, 2724 South State, and his wife, Ira Lee Howard, 24, without charge! Goodloe told police' the Howards hired his cab at 30th 'street ard Michigan avenue' Thursday night and rode to 5307 South Wabash, where Mrs. Howard got out, ostensibly to get money to pay fares. While she was gone, Police quoted Goodloe, Howard threaten ed him with a knife, took $7 and ordered him to leave.

After thinking it over for a few blocks, Goodloe told police, he decided to go back. Goodloe said he used hie coin changer and a length of 2x4 wood to subdue Howard. Police said Mrs. Howard denied any part in the robbery, but a lie detector test failed to substantiate her story. Police said the Howards each were sentenced to three years for armed robbery of a cab driver in 1950, and Howard was released last September and Mrs.
