no. 2o- -Mrs. A. V. Austin lt week entertained a group i of members of the drama section of the Womans Club' who are starting rehearsals for a new play, Borrowed Luncheon." Those enjoying the afternoon were Mrs.

G. W. Bunton, Mrs. F. N.

High, Mrs. Joe A. Baily, Mrs. Knisely and Mrs. G.

W. Wetzstein. r. i I i I VISITOR TELLS OF VALUE OF PERUSING HOME PAPER E. E.

Wasson, a visitor but who once resided in this section, says if you Vant to know what is really going on in a community in the way of development and progress, to read that community's home paper. All othtfr boosting, he says, may be true and still may be not. When things are' down in black-and whiten the home paper, you not only know' what is going on, but it's bound to be the actual facts, or they would never be printed in the honle paper." Wasson until recently' lived at Lewiston, Idaho. For the last six weeks he has been at Berkeley! He' is now in -Van Nuys, visiting Ahe C. G.

Columbus family. him is Mrs. Wasson and daughter, Emily. For, the Ist few years I have bqen a subscriber to' The News and have been reading it closely for development and industrial items," Wasson aaid. "From afar off I have kept up with the town's growth -Koto that I'm here I may- never leave.

Van Nuys is a great place and 'The News hs helped me to like the town. I used -to live in these parts and once knew a great many persona. While I was at Lewiston I read dn-account of -a1 picnic at Long Beach. More than 120 names of persons present were printed. It was great stuff, for I knew almost all of them.

The more I read The News, the more I got homesick -for Van Nuys. Now here I am, and I dont suppose I shall, go away again." Holly Hatchery MISSIONARY CHURCH MID-WEEK SERVICE A so-called prophetess hailing from Hollywood, prophesied thut the Lord would -come back to earth and the fcrld would come to 'an end on' next Friday, -February 6th. This has galled forth much discussion and mockinga and is 'bringing the-blessed hope of the second coming of Christ into disrepute. But no one that believes Gods word will be deceived. The more sure word of prophecy" teaches -that while no one the day or the hour yet the Lord might come for hia people any time, "for the Lord himself shall descend.

from heaven' with a shout and the- dead in Christ will Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up' together with thpm in the clouds meet the Lord in air. I Thess. 4:16, This is the next event on the prophetic, program. The idea that the world will come to an end. is purely a figment of the imagination and finds nb support in Scripture.

This misconception is largely caused by av mistranslation in the King 'James version. The word world" should be age as in the Revised version. The lord speaks of the end of the age and not the end of the world. Mat. 28:20.

After Christs coming for his people there will be a time or great tribulation such as the work! has never Mat 24:21. During this time of trouble God will pour out hia plagues he did when he 'delivered his people out of Egypt. Rev. 16. This will be the subject of our Bible study Wednesday night, You are -cordially invited.
