An old press, once gathering dust in Enjaian's Greenville garage, is operating 1 in Yerevan, capital of Soviet Armenia. The press is one he had bought while teaching in a California high school. A classroom tool, the press had a defective part which was not readily available, so the school opted to sell it rather than pay expensive repairs.

When Enjaian moved to Greenville in 1985, he brought the press with him. Last fall, the press was moved to the sound stage of Unusual Films at Bob Jones University for use in the film "The Printing," which will be released in November. The press was revised to simulate a press that was used in the Soviet Union to print Bibles. After the scenes were filmed in January, the press went back into the garage. Meanwhile, Enjaian had received a letter from a friend who is pastor of a California church, who explained how his church and another congregation had been sending Bibles into Armenia.

Previously, the Bibles had to be sneaked in, but now that such distribution is being allowed, the pastor wanted to do more. He wanted to be able to print Bibles there. Enjaian told the friend that he would donate the press. He also agreed to take it to Armenia. The equipment was repaired and revised so it could be easily oper-, a ted and was adapted to the Armenian power system.

The printing press operation wasn't so cut and dried, however. At first, visas, weren't being issued to visitors. Then Enjaian, who is of Turkish Armenian Cambridge Academy seventh graders have been seleted to participate in the Duke University Talent Identification (TIP) program. Based on their standardized test cores, the students are eligible to take the Scholastic Aptitude test along with high school juniors and seniors. The aim of the program is to assist youths who have excellent mathematical, verbal, or general intellectual ability by 'providing them with information about their ability and 1 about educational options that may be beneficial to them.
