Shrewder arose as usual and was to go back over to that day had been about house and out in the yard was seized with a heart about 9:30 -nd died almost The reporter PASSING In REVIEW Dripping from the Editorial Pen Wixe and Otherwise Maybe there are people about over the 7th Congressional DU trict who will recall that we had quite a lively political cam paign on several months a go well back nearly a year ago over who was to represent this district in the Congress of the United Slates and that it fin ally tapered down to where one Victor Wickersham and I'reston Peden were contending fur the honor to be the candidate of the democratic party or at least it was called the democratic party and finally Peden won the race and then he and one who had the temerity or maybe we ought to say the gall to ask the people of the 7th district to vote for him as the representa tive in Congress from this district As a matter of fact with an estimated less than 3000 people in the district registered as republicans Warren White drew over 9000 votes However it lacked a lot of being enough to put him in Congress and so Preston Peden was sent as the 7th district representative (During the last several months there has been very little said about the representative from the Seventh district except that every now and then somebody might ask "Has anybody neard anything about Peden since Congress Or "Has the 7th district really got a representative in Congress or has he gone back to Germany or what has happened to In response to these questions we replied that we believe Peden is really in Washington because two or three months ago we received a sterotyped letter to the effect that we were to re ceive coipies of the Congresslon al and if has been coming right along and we have a pale of them over there in the corner that would fill two or three bushel baskets We carried a notice in the papers to the effect that anybody wanting to look over one of those voluminous affairs could get them here at the print shop and so far there has been one lone citizen of Harmon county call and ask to see a copy But there is other evidence that Preston Peden is in Washington We know Just how much the government now allows for clerk hiret but we know it is plenty and Peden has hit on the Men of sending out a weekly letter from Washington telling what Congress is doing or something along that line We surmise that the approaching election that is not so many months off has prompted Preston to start these letters out from Washington at this time daughter Jo Ann Hundley -Hollis measures NOW and not wait until after the war has started ana Russia has nearly all the rest of Europe and maybe Asia too practically beat to death before we get started We are frank to say that we would have to know more about the problem of loaning money or anything else to Greece and Turkey or any oaher nation on earth before we would know just what action to take in supporting a movement to
