Sedalia Democrat, Sunday, Feb. 23, 1969 OBITUARIES Mrs. Walter Purcey Mrs. Walter Purcey. 88, died at the Fairview Nursing Home Saturday morning.

She was born July 6. 1880. at Valles Mines. daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Benjamin Buster. On Sept. 2. 1909. she was married to Walter W.

Purcey in St. Louis. They lived most of their life in Bonne Terr, moving to Sedalia in May, 1967. Mrs. Purcey was preceded in death by her husband in June, 1967.

She IS survived by her daughter, Mrs. william C. Hopkins. 1610 West 13th: one son. Walter J.

Purcey. Farmington: seven grandchildren. The body was brought to the McLaughlin Funeral Chapel and later taken to the Boyer Funeral Home, Bonne Terre. where funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in Bonne Terre.

William Helsley LINCOLN William Gilbert Helsley. North Hollywood. formerly of Lincoln. died in a North Hollywood hospital shortly after being struck by a car there Jan. 29.

He had been employed by General Electric Co. for 30 years. Survivors include a sister. Nettie, state of California: one half- brother. Guy Helsley.

Maude Harkless and Miss Abbie Helsley. both of Green Ridge. Funeral services were held at the Old North Church. Feb. 3.

with burial at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. George M. Mitchell WARSAW George M. Mitchell, 81, died at his home here Thursday. He was born in Cross Timbers, Aug.

3. 1887. son of the late William and Margaret Wiley Mitchell. He was married to Mary Lake, Cross Timbers, who survives. They spent their entired married life on a farm in the Hickory community in Benton County.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Clark, also of the home: one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Roberts, Edwards; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the New Home Baptist Church. with Elder Maynard Yoder officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Reser Funeral Home. Mrs. Augusta Kreiling Mrs. Augusta Agatha Kreiling.

93. 700 West Third, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Bothwell Hospital. She was born in Marquette County, Wisconsin. March 13, 1875.

daughter of the late Fritz and Rosie Jesse Fethke. She was married to Lewis Simeon Kreiling. Jan. 3. 1900.

in Florence. He preceded her in death. Nov. 28. 1934.

Mrs. Kreiling had been a resident of Sedalia for 62 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters. Mrs. W.

F. Schwenk. 1517 South Barrett: Mrs. Bessie Taylor. 700 West Third; and Mrs.

Walter Reppenhagen, Decatur, a son, Warren G. Krieling, Richomond. seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother, in addition to her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday at the Heckart -Gillespie Funeral Home with the Rev. J. R. Wallace, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday at the HeckartGillespie Funeral Home. Busdrivers' Union Authorized to Strike ST. LOUIS (AP) Bus drivers of the bi-state transit system have authorized their union to strike Mar. 1 if contract negotiations remained deadlocked.

The union's old working agreement expired Friday. Two Held (Continued from Page 1) identified Jordan and Shomer as the men who raped here, Miller reported. Identification was made at the police station Friday morning. Chief Miller said. Miller added that the victim's sister also identified the car and the two men as the suspects who drove away with the young girl.

After the incident was reported to police. Miller said. the vehicle described by the two girls was located at the Bothwell Hotel parking lot. Officers Franklin Rogers and James Shawhan maintained surveillance of the vehicle from after 10 p.m. Thursday until about 8 a.m.

Friday. In the meantime, it was learned that both Jordan and Shomer were registered at the hotel. Miller added. Miller said the two men accompanied Sargeants Franklin and William Raynes to the Sedalia police station of their own free will after being asked to do so by the officers while at the hotel. After questioning at police headquarters, the men were held for investigation of statutory rape, Miller said.

He said both men requested a polygraph test and added that Jordan and Shomer were taken to Jefferson City by Sgt. Perry Franklin and Officer James Stivers. The test was given about 3 p.m. Friday, but results were withheld. After they returned to Sedalia, about 6 p.m.

Friday, Jordan and Shomer were again questioned by Chief Miller, Sgt. Franklin and Sheriff Fairfax. A short time later state charges were filed by Keeler. The two men are scheduled to appear before Magistrate Armstrong for arraignment Monday, Fairfax said. Chief Miller said the victim of the alleged assault did not require hospitalization, but was examined at the hospital by Dr.

Robert Stockwood and released. Miller said the two men arrived in Sedalia Thursday morning. It was also learned that they apparently did not have previous police records. Students Name To Dean's Honor List at SFCC Eighteen Sedalians have been named to the dean's honor list for the first semester of the first class at State Fair Community College it was announced Saturday. Students must attain a grade point average of 3.0 or better and must be enrolled for at least 12 semester hours of study.

Broadway and State Fair was the scene of a two- car accident at 5:58 p.m. Friday. Involved were a 1967 Plymouth driven east on Broadway by Billy R. Wilson, 35. Kansas City.

and a 1967 Buick driven north on State Fair by Belinda Blackman. 17. 1005 State Fair. The right side of the Plymouth and the left front of the Buick were damaged in the accident. A 1966 Chevrolet drinve south on Limit by Alma Lee Hopkins, 41.

Windsor, and a 1965 Chevrolet driven east on 16th by Thomas S. Gulick. 73, 1415 South Beacon, were involved in a collision at the intersection of those streets at 3:11 p.m. Friday. The right side of Mrs.

Hopkins' auto and the front of Gulick's were damaged. Minor damage resulted in a two-car accident in the 100 block of East Second at 3:23 p.m. Friday. Involved were a parked 1961 Chevrolet owned by Homer D. Craig, 48, Cole Camp, and a 1961 Buick driven by Zulia Helen Owen, 49, 1207 South Ohio.

A broken headlamp on the Chevrolet was the only damage reported as a result of the accident. Extensive damage resulted to both cars involved in an accident 2.1 miles south of Route on Highway 65 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. According to the Highway Patrol a 1966 Buick driven south on 65 by John Loren Fair, 22, Kansas City, and a Mercury sedan driven by George Henry Lewis, 59, 902 West Broadway. collided when Lewis was attempting to make a left turn into a driveway.

The right front of the Buick and the left rear of the Mercury were damaged in the accident. Damage was estimated at $500 to both vehicles. Fair was issued a patrol summons for careless and imprudent driving. Cpl. Pete Storh of the Highway Patrol investigated the accident.

A 1968 Ford driven by James Leonard Shepard, 35, 607 North Quincy, and a 1967 Chevrolet driven by Michael E. Alfrey, 24, Route 3, were involved i in an accident on the parking lot at Garst's Drive Inn at 10:57 p.m. Friday. The right rear of the Ford and the left rear of the Chevrolet were damaged in the accident. Police received a report of a one-car accident in the 2200 block of South Grand at 12:47 a.m.

Saturday. Upon investigation officers discovered a 1965 Oldsmobile had struck a utility pole at the above location. The right side of the car was damaged in the accident. Police were unable to contact the driver of the car at the scene. They are continuing their investigation.

All Sedalia Police cars were dispatched to Brooks Cafe, 210 East Main, at 4:43 p.m.

Saturday after police received a call about a shooting in progress there. Upon arrival officers discovered that two shots had been fired from a .22 caliber revolver following a disturbance. Michael John Yakos, Whiteman AFB, dirving while intoxicated, pleaded guilty and was fined $100 plus costs. Donna Marie Bryant, Route 2, driving with an operator's license, pleaded guilty and was fined $5 plus costs.

Marvin Roy Boyer, Clearfield. Iowa, careless and imprudent driving, pleaded guilty and was fined $25 plus costs. John Prentice Beaman. Green Ridge, Missouri resident and out-of-state vehicle license. pleaded guilty and was fined $5 plus costs.

Lewis Peter Braden, 914 East Seventh, no operator's license on persons, pleaded guilty and was fined $5 plus costs. City Fires Firemen used two pump buckets and one dry chemical extinguisher to extinguish a fire at the Show-Me-Kort, 1217 South Limit. at 5:12 p.m. Saturday where a furnace caught fire after a heat element apparently failed to function properly. Damage was estimated at $500.

Firemen were called to 415 East Saline at 2:32 a.m. Saturday. A furnace had overheated. There was no fire or damage. presented a worthwhile devotional on "Beauty." Members were asked to answer roll call with some significant event of February.

It was coincidental that one member brought out the fact that that particular week in February was Electrical Week" and Mrs. Arthur Mahin, co-home management leader with Mrs. J. L. Johnson, chose as her demonstration, "How to Replace or Change an Electrical Switch or Mrs.

J. L. Johnson demonstrated a method of patching a rug or carpeting to complete the "Household Fixit" study for the afternoon. Mrs. George Harrison presented the Home and Community Beautification suggestion to be considered as projects for individual members and the club.

A round table discussion followed bringing out some worth while plans for one main community project which it is hoped can be done this year. During the business meeting with Mrs. Raymond Wasson president, presiding, nine members answered roll call and Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Harrison gave a report of the meeting of the Pettis County Extension Homemakers Council which they and the president had attended recently.

The meeting was closed with the group singing the Missouri Waltz, the 1969 State Club Son. and with members repeating the club collect. Refreshments were served suggestive. of February birthdays and each place at the table was marked with a Valentine. Two children were guests.
