A special train took all the recruits to Great Lakes, 111. Mr and Mrs Metzger and daughter, with several friends and relatives, attended the ceremonies. Clarence graduated from St. Cecelia's Academy this spring, and was employed, part time, at the Council Oak store in AJgona.

It was reported the hospital committee- and the present owners had agreed on a sale price of $50.000, which will be subscribed locally. A quick check by solicitors the; morning following the announcement of the sale showed that $9,950 was raised in three hours through contacts with business firms and merchants. The drive for funds will continue until enough cash is raised to pay for the hospital.

Sale price included the grounds, buildings and all present equin- ment, with the exception of examination room equipment used by doctors, valued at $3.600. and drugs now in stock, amounting to $5,000. Dr. Harry Feldick will remain at Buffalo Center, deferring his plans, and will stay until competent medical surgeons can be obtained to operate the establishment. The hospital was built and operated successfully by Dr.

G. F. Dolmage, followed by Doctors Feldick. Grams and Kroack. and there will be no lapse of services offered by the institution between now and the sale.

Several doctors, well-recommended, a shown yn interest in moving to Buffalo Center and it is expected that suitable surgeons will soon be secured and at work. Six $1.000. six $500 and numerous smaller pledges were received during the opening canvass June 8. Complete canvass of the entire area, including farms, will be completed just as soon as possible. The hospital serves quite a large section, and its continued opera- lion was deemed necessity, according to the members of the committee.
