says the Cincinnati Enquirer, but what the present congress fails to do the next congress must make up. The committee on appropriations must have a care, too. The people of the country are willing to pay war taxes vyhile the legimate expenses of the war are stili going on but they will require economy in the civil administration of affairs. There will only be three months of the present congress, interrupted by the dallying there always is about the holidays. Much of the legislature and economic work growing out of the war will have to be disposed of by the next congress, and that will be chosen in the coming November.

It is time for the voters to be on the alert. For Justices of the MONT CARNES JNO. B. RICKMAN CHRIS C. STANLEY For CLAY R.

President McKinley will visit the Omaha exposition during the peace jubilee, which begins October loth. The middle-of-the-road populists have re-organized their party and nominated Wharton Baker for president and Ignatius Donnelly for vice president in 1900. It is about time for democratic club to begin to get ready for the campaign. The boys are ready to rally wlien President Dexter sounds the call to battle.

he president has issued a proclamation declaring that food supplies for the starving Cubans shall be admitted free of duty through any port controlled by the United States. was defeated in Kansas City yesterday, but it was only the first battle. Some of these days the people of the state wnll rise up in indignation and smash the machine. There is work for the Sedalia Board of Trade and it is none too soon to begin to map out next campaign. New industries should be secured and the best way to succeed is by organized effort.

Hon. Henry Lamm has been honored with a position on the executive committee of the republican state committee. Mr. Lamm is not only one of the ablest but also one of the worthiest members of his party in the state. Boasting about the condition of the treasury is premature.

Some of our contemporaries foolishly treat the amplitude of funds in the treasury as an achievement of the economic ability of republican legislation. There is a large fund on hand as the result of war taxes. There will be a natural and proper demand for an early reduction in that line. There is small hope of the work being well done under the direction of the incompetent men under the leadership of Mr, EMPLOY OUR OWN LABOR. Sedalia has sent tliousands of dollars to other towns for paving material, and she will soon swell the amount by a good big contribution to the prosperity of Galesburg.

At Monday meeting of the city council a gentleman who is largely interested in welfare, and who is universally regarded as careful and not given to exaggeration in his statements, said that Sedalia had at her doors as good material for making paving brick as can be found anywhere. When this state of affairs exists and is thus forcibly brought home to us, certainly it is time to adopt the wiser policy of making our own brick with which to pave our streets and sidewalks and thus keep our money at home. There are miles and miles of streets and sidewalks to be paved in Sedalia. If we pursue the policy of the past the money that is spent for paving material will be withdrawn from circulation at home and sent abroad to those who labor and live elsewhere. It will not take long to pay out and send away enough money to put in operation the plant necessary to manufacture paving brick.

With communities as with individuals, those who pay out all they take in will never grow rich or prosperous. Sedalia must learn, and the Catarrh, Dyspepsia Life Was Becoming Burdensome and There Was No Pieasure in Anything Sarsaparilla Did in This Case. have been a sufferer from catarrh, dyspepsia and piles, and life was becoming burdensome. I had a constant tired feeling and felt so bad that there was no pleasure for me in anything. I tried various remedies with no good results.

In fact, some of them made me worse and I gave up medicines and thought I would wear the disease out. I found I could not do this and I began taking Sarsaparilla and Pills. That terrible tired feeling is now gone, the catarrh has disappeared and I am able to go about my work with pleasure. From my experience I can testify that Sarsaparilla purifies the blood, builds up the system and makes a man feel that life is worth Frank Willbargkr, 1318 La- mime Street, Sedalia, Missouri.
