I IDEE Plans are now being shaped to leave Elgin off the Atlantlc-Yellow-stone-Paeific trail and it is probable the new trail will pass through Freeport, Rockford, Belvidere, Marengo Huntley and Dundee, from Dundee to Dea Plaines and into Chicago.

This new route it is pointed out Is about four miles shorter than any other road between here and Chicago. All of the cities and towns on the proposed new route are enthusiastic over the proposed trail and are backing and boosting it. CtpA Niemeyer 1:1 a Rev. Elmer L. Williams, the Chicago dry crusader, whose home was blown up with a bomb in Chicago night before last, made sensational statements in Chicago yesterday regarding the connection of beer running with official life in that city. Mr. Williams is well known in Belvidere, having spoken here several times, and his charges are of much Interest.

In part he said: "Why did three high officials and an attorney in private practice hold a meeting last Monday morning? "What is the connection between that meeting and the dismissal, of the case against the ex-broker, and the dismissal of the case against two warehouse owners on N. Larabee Btreet, where 550 bottles of champagne were seized, which the two men denied having permits for at the time of the raid? "After the mayoralty election, a leader of the party in power Instructed the aldermen to keep their hands out of 'liquor' graft and leave that to the committeemen, as they had paying jobs and the committeemen didn't. "There are seven breweries making real beer today, the Best Brewing company, the Stenson Brewing company, the Keeley Brewing company, the Sieben Brewing company, the Illinois Beverage company, the Stege Brewing company, and the Malt Maid Brewing eom'pany, either owned or controlled by Frank Lake and Terry Druggan. "Just recently an acting captain of police, two aldermen and some other politicians met in a saloon and divided S15.000 graft from moonshine peddling. I got word that moonshine liquor was being sold there 10 Curtis street and the place was raided by federal men.

"Soon after that a bootlegger, known as a rival to the Fontana gang, was slain in his automobile in West Chicago. The affair was kept -lint, but it was reported to me that he had been slain on the supposition that he "gave the tip that led' to the raid."
