Rierson August 8, 1934-December 4, 2020 Norma irene rierson, age 86, of Aplington, iowa, was born the daughter of George and rena (Lichtsinn) uhlen- hopp on August 8, 1934, on a farm near Kesley, iowa. Nor- ma received her education in Dumont, iowa, and graduat- ed from high school in 1952. Norma worked at the bank in Aplington. Norma married Tilfred rier- son on october 8, 1960, at her home in Aplington.

Af- ter their marriage, they lived in Cedar Falls for many years where Tilfred worked as an electrician for Stickfort electric and Norma kept their home. They moved to Aplington in 1995. on August 29, 1956, Norma was saved for eternity. She wrote in her Bible, bore the cross for She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior while reading 2 Corinthians 4:3. if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are She also read from Luke 19:10.

the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was Norma was thank- ful for blessings throughout her life. Norma enjoyed her family very much. She was a devoted wife and was always thankful for her husband, Tilfred. She took great interest in the lives of her nieces and neph- ews. Norma and Tilfred, were in fellowship at the hitesville Gospel hall.

Norma left this world and entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Newaldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. Norma is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Tilfred; her parents, George and rena uhlenhopp; her brother, Lynn uhlenhopp and his wife, Sharon and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Norma is lovingly remembered by her brother, Lyle uhlen- hopp and his wife, Dotta; and many nieces and nephews. Private Family Services will be Friday, December 11, 2020, at hitesville Gospel hall, with burial in the hitesville Ceme- tery, both in rural Aplington. She graduated from Dunkerton high School with the class of 1967, she then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo for two years. on June 22, 1968, she was united in marriage to Alen howard Nagel in Dunkerton. Becky was an office worker and bookkeeper for several businesses over the years. Most recently she worked as a scheduler and driver for Cozy Van. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dunkerton.

Becky is survived by her husband, Alen Nagel of Waterloo; two sons Jeremie (Jennifer) Nagel of Dunkerton, Jason (Amy) Nagel of Granby, Co; five grandchildren, Grant, Quinn, Jor- dyn and Justine Nagel, and Jenna (Abbey) Senn; three broth- ers, Doug (Candy) Smith of Broomfield, Co, Calvin (Denise) Smith of Dunkerton, Larry (Christine) Smith of Anchorage, AK; two sisters, Lela (Scott) Pettit of Waterloo, Cheryl Wal- lace of Dunkerton; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Mager of Adel, iA; also a Sister in law and Brother in law, Paulette and David Woods of evansdale. her parents; stepfather, Morris Adams; and one sister, Lora Mager preceded her in death. Marlene M. Jeys February 27, 1935-December 3, 2020 M. Jeys, 85, of Waterloo, died Thurs- day, December 3, 2020 at uni- tyPoint health Allen hospital.

She was born February 27, 1935 in Waterloo, the daughter of Cecil J. and helene A. Neuhal- fen heath. She married Jerald L. Jeys on August 21, 1954 in Cedar Falls.

he preceded her in death on March 20, 2013. She attended St. Patrick Catholic School in Cedar Falls and graduated from Cedar Falls high School in 1953. She had also attended Gates Busi- ness College. Marlene was em- ployed by Carnation Fresh Milk in Waterloo as an accounting clerk for 15 years, taught piano and organ in her home for 13 years, was employed by Acme reproduction Supply in Waterloo for 10 years, and had been employed in the office of Kearns Funeral Service since February of 1986 until retir- ing in 2020.

She has been a volunteer church organist since 1950, first at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls and from 1955 on for Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo retiring due to health in 2020. Survived by: one son, Thomas L. (Charlotte) Jeys of Waterloo; four daughters, Nancy A. (Mike) Duffy of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Joan M.

(Lamont) rice of Waterloo, Linda S. (robert) Dickerson of West Des Moines and Jean A. (Scott) Timmer of Ankeny; eleven grandchildren, Jenni, Jon, ryan, Cory, Sara, Jersey, Shayla, Marcus, holly, Nick, and Matt; fif- teen great-grandchildren, Piper, Jude, Lily, Chandie, Blake, Madison, Alexis, Nathan, Briann, Bradin, Aiden, Savannah, Tenley, Kadance and Tyler; two brothers, Leo A. (Jean) heath and James A. (Teresa) heath both of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Constance S.

Shorty), 91, passed away at Windhaven Assisted Living on Monday, November 30, 2020. he was born Novem- ber 16, 1929, in Coulter, iowa, son of richard Gladys (ro- demeyer) Thielen. LaVerne graduated from Latimer high School.

on May 21, 1950, he was married to his high school sweetheart, Carol McCormick. LaVerne was Manager at the Cooperative of hudson at the Cedar Branch retiring in 1991. LaVerne was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Carol; his parents; his grand- daughter, Ashley Thielen; sisters, Marj Thielen, Betty Gausman and Sandy Kracht; and brothers, William, richard, Duane and Gayhart. he is survived by his children: Steve (Linda) Thielen of Carmel, iN, Craig (Blair) Thielen of Cedar Falls and Janae (randy) Strabala of Cedar Falls; 7 grandchildren: Stephanie (Chris) eckerle, Katie (Conor) Kelly, Lindsey (Paul) hasenjager, Quinn (rebecca) Strabala, Keegan (Joe) Strabala-Bright and Colin (Becky Genung) Strabala; great grandchildren: emma, Charlotte, Clare, rory, Finn, Jack, henry, owen, Maeve, einri and Killian; sisters, Shirley (robert) Swieter of hampton and irene (richard) Shear of Arkansas; and brother-in-law, ray Kracht of Dows. LaVerne was a long-time, dedicated member of our re- deemer Lutheran Church. he was a master furniture mak- er having crafted special pieces for each of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. LaVerne enjoyed feeding birds and in his younger years enjoyed hunting and trap-shooting. Most would have considered him a very loving man who gave great advice.

Above all, he cherished spending time with his family. Nancy A. Probst March 4, 2020 Nancy A. Probst, age 74 of Green river, WY passed away on November 4, 2020 in her home surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 11,1946 in Waterloo, iA, the daughter of Neil and helen Mc Caffery.

Nancy attended school in Cedar Falls, iA. upon gradua- tion, Nancy worked at Collins radio, Cedar rapids where she met her husband, James Probst. They were married August 24,1968 in Waterloo, iA, moved to WY, 1971 and to Green river, WY 1978. Nancy worked for Sweetwater County School District Food Service for 27 years, retiring in 2003. Nancy enjoyed cooking, traveling (snow birding), her family and many friends.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter Dawn and her family, husband Bill and daughter rylee all of North Las Vegas, NV and son, Neil and his three boys, Daniel, Fontana, CA, Jacob and James, Green river, WY. her surviving sibling, Cheryl Jensen and her husband Dick of Waverly, iA, along with their daughters and families. Survived also by her brother- in-law, rick Probst of McCall, iD along with his daughters and their families, and two bonus granddaughters, Ashley Young, FL, Morgan Breen and family of South Jordan, uT. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Neil, Jr, her grandparents, several aunts, uncles and two cousins. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 9, 2020 at united Church of Christ, 350 Mansface Green river, WY.

John L. Maitland, Sr. January 29, 1945-November 26, 2020 ForMerLY of LiMe L. Maitland, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 26, 2020 at Cedar Valley hospice, with his fami- ly nearby, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Memo- rials may be directed to Cedar Valley hospice. he was born on Jan. 29, 1945 in Bradgate, iowa to Thomas Maitland and Clara (Moehring) Maitland. John went to several schools while growing up.

he graduated from eighth grade at Joliet Middle School and Crestwood high School in Cresco, iowa. he started farming for his dad when he was 12, so crops and dairy farming always held a special place in his heart. he enjoyed studying up on tractors and cars from the 1950s and 60s. he also enjoyed music from the 1950s and 60s and was a history buff of that era. John enjoyed camping with his family and watching stock car races of all kinds throughout his entire life.

he was a very organized man, who loved visiting and joking with his friends. he spent 38 years with Thermogas, where he was promoted to manager for many years. he married Kerry Jo Johnson in 1963. They had five chil- dren. John was a loving and courageous caregiver for his chil- dren and their mother for many years, while she was stricken with multiple sclerosis.

Kerry passed away in 2003. he married Linda Appell Alexander in 2005. John is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Mark (Marjorie) Maitland of Monroe, Jean (Darrin) Smith of Stewartville, John Jr. (Tammy) Maitland of Waterloo, iowa, Brent (Aimee) Maitland of Cedar rapids, iowa and Aar- on (Noriko) Maitland of College Park, 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Clara; wife, Kerry; brothers, James and Darwin; and sister, Dorothy Skovbo.

Mary Winder August 10, 1930-December 2, 2020 Mary Winder, 90, of Cedar rapids, died Wednesday, De- cember 2, 2020. Private Celebration of Life services will be at Brosh Chap- el and The Avacentre in Cedar rapids. Private family inurn- ment will be at a later date. Mary was born August 10, 1930, in Waterloo, the daugh- ter of Linford and ethel (Jones) McGrane. She was united in marriage to Dale Winder on June 24, 1950.

She worked at Waterloo Community Schools and later at hawkeye Commu- nity College in independence. Mary is survived by her children, Tandi Winder of Cedar rapids and son reverend Troy Winder of Bettendorf; four grandchildren holley Brasch, Jamie (Brenda) Brasch, Jenn (Benj) Kost, and Matt Winder; six great-grandchildren; her brother Lindy (Carol) McGrane of Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, and her son Tracy Winder. Wubbena January 20, 1939-December 1, 2020 Betty J. Wubbena, 81, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, De- cember 1 at her home. She was born January 20, 1939, in Bristow, daughter of edward and iva Wickham Abben. Betty graduated from Bristow high School. She married Donald Wubbena May 17, 1957 in Bris- tow; he died october 24, 1988.

Betty is survived by her daugh- ters, Teresa (Dan) Kalianov of Waterloo, and Lisa (Jim) Zuck of Punta FL; son, Scott (Cindy harris) Wa- terloo; grandchild, Alicia Zuck of FL; two brothers, eldon (Grace) Abben, and richard Abben. She is preceded by her parents, husband, Donald; and three brothers, ivan, Beryl, and ronald Abben. Graveside Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Decem- ber 8 at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
