Nash, for murder, thousands and thousands of persons as sembled at Carlinville from all parts of Macoupin, Madison, Greene and Montgo mery counties. The number attracted to Carlinville to witness the execution is es timated at 7,000 persons; tffid when the intelligence arrived tnat tne convict's sen tence of death had been commuted by the Governor to imprisonment in the Fen itentiary for life, the utmost excitement prevailed among the enraged people. Ma ny of them, under the influence of liquor. and disappointed in the object of their visit, threatened to take the matter into their own hands, and hang Nash by mob force at the place prepared for his execution. For some time the jail was protected by the Sheriff, Jailor, and many of the citizens, who kept iruard around it but the mob continued to press upon finally attempted to pull the jail down.

At this moment the utmost confusion pre vailed the vicinity of the jail was crowded with people, who seemed determined to satisfy their wicked desire for blood and a rush, we are informed, was made for the prisoner but he was found dead in bis cell, having either hung himself through fear of the mob, or been hung by it in the midst of the confusisn. The crowd continued in the streets through the greater part of the night, but, as if satisfied with the horrid deed they had brought about, attempted no further out rage. Alton Tel. OcL 6, 1H5L Mr. John D. I remained un der his treatment until I was satisfied he could not help me. I then procured of roar agent at this place, W. A.

Beers, two bottles of Goyaott's Yellow Dock and Sarsanarilla, from which I received avast amount or benefit. After having ukea four bottles more, I was able to pursue my hesiness without any inconvenience, and hare been since that lime a well man, while but short time since 1 was confined to my bed tbree-fourths of the lime; and I cannot ascribe the re-urn of mv health to an other cause than bv the agency of that truly valuable medicine, Gnysott's 1 cllow Dock and aarsapaniia. I feel com polled to throw myself on the charity of tne House lor one moment The Speaker reminded him that half a dozen gentlemen objected. Mr. McMullen (Va.) desired to know whether it would not be competent to submit a motion to allow the gentleman to proceed. The Speaker replied Provided it affed-ted the privileges of a merabei of this body. Mr.

Churchwell said he so considered it. Mr. Washburne (111.) hoped the gentleman would be allowed the privilege he asked. He wished to propound a question, the gentleman having called him an Abolitionist yesterday. Mr.

Churchwell said it would be recollected that through the whole of that peculiar debate yesterday good humor prevailed. The soint made by the honorable gentleman was, a few words, not of an offensive character, had been inserted in his previous speech. He regretted to find a liberty had been taken bv one nf the gentlemen (meaning Mr. Cullom) to insert language after the close of the which was not uttered on this floor. The lanruase referred to by Mr.

Churchwell as attributed in Tlte Daily Globe to Mr. Cullom is understood to be as follows I positively deny that I was congratulated by a single Abolitionist upon the occasion, and the gentleman sho'd learn to be a little more particular in making those sweeping und random chaiges intended to affect others, without the semblance of truth or fact to sustain them. Being untrue, these charges all fall to the ground." There was much confusion during these proceedings, and we have stated the substance of the remarks of Mr. Churchwell, who, amid cries of order, pronounced the language false, infamously false. Mr.

Cullom, who sat about fifteen fact from Mr. Church the last word iras sprung from his sentand with fists upraised, and exclaiming -J you" and rascal," made a desperate effort to reach Mr. Churchwell. He was instantly seized by his coat collar, legs and body; several voices calling out "No words Cullom "Separate them Sergeaut-at-Arms," Mr. Cullom, too, was restrained from ndvancirg toward his colleague.

The persons in the main aisle formed an im- passable barrier, apiit from those wlu held the belligerents. Crowds quickly gathered around them, and the greatest possible excitement prevailed, both ou the floor und in the galleries. The Speaker banged and rapped to order; loudly culling on gentUsmea to take ther seats. The Sergeant at-Arms rushed up first tU Mr. Cullom and next to Mr.
