Doctors Medical Center in Modesto charged more than three times the state median for treating patients with work-related injuries according to the California Nurses Association Representatives of the nurses union are expected to testify next month before a state Senate committee that wants to know if Tenet Healthcare Corp has been overbilling for workers compensation cases Tenet owns Doctors Medical Center as well as Doctors Hospital of Manteca The median charge for workers compensation patients discharged from DMC last year was $62800 according to the CNA The hospital discharged 38 when it comes to the use of cell phones When the Legislature amended the Education Code in 1988 to ban students from having cell phones and electric pagers on campus the target was drug sales at California middle and high schools Now because of a law taking effect Wednesday school districts can adopt their own rules and decide for themselves whether to allow cell phones the popular thing to
