hand Wichita State University a 27-14 defeat before 12000 fans at Veterans Field Saturday night The Shockers looked like the team of last year in one respect as the battery of John Eckman and Glenn Meltzer caught the Aggies by surprise early in the game They' came out passing and went dread 7-0 in the first Sarter but the Aggies behind i brilliant running of hardworking fullback Doug Dalton tallied twice in each of the last two quarters for the victory The Aggies now stand two victories one loss and a tie while' the Shockers fell below the 500 mark with one victory two losses and a tie Eckman who was injured and missed last week's game and was not supposed to start 'Saturday night went the entire distance on offense He opened the game by passing 12 of the first 13 plays Wichita State had the ball The senior quarterback who completed more passes than any other passer in the country last season was on target Several of his hard passes were dropped early in the game although right to the intended receiver Wichita State scored its first touchdown on its second possession Mike Greenwald returned a New Mexico punt 21 yards to set up the Shockers 46 yards away from pay dirt trend by upsetting the eighth ranked Cornhuskers 10-0 here Saturday afternoon in a Big Eight Conference game at Memorial Stadium The victory was the first in four outings for the Jayhawks under new
