Agrienltaral Society wan held last week oa the oi tne oaety. Owing io the stormy Wnf prorailing the two flrat days, matters looked glesaty enoogh, bnt it was reaolred to coAtlaua th i Fair one more day, making it end on Friday night instead of Thuj-sday night This turned out a good more, as Friday happened to arery fine day, though rather cool, and the people turned out by thousands, literally filling the iaclosure. On Friday afternoon there were more people on the grounds than we remember to have seen before at any one time. The grounds were in very good order, considering the constant rains, the track being a little heavy, though pretty firm. The large building has been newly shingled, and the Society hare laid out quite a sum in repairs in one way nd another.

Tna Stock Depastmckt. The Stock on exhibition, (although no "fancy" herds were present,) would compare favor-ibly with the exhibition at any prerious Fair in fact, in the horse line, we think it was toe best We liare heard it remarked that there is a great improrement manifest in horseflesh, probably owing, to some extent, to the fret that horses hare increased so much in value within a few years that more pains is taken. There were many fine specimens of horned cattle both Durham, Devonshire and mixed breed. There were several pens of hogs of the various breeds, principally Chester Whites and crosses of that breed. We noticed some excellent Brtkshires, and a curious hairiest specimen, called the Yorkshire, said to be a rery good breed too.

The display of sheep was excellent, the Spanish Merino being the leading variety. There were several pens of other breeds of long, wools, equal to any we have seen. The poultry show was limited to a few'ooopa, but those of good fowls. The Bramas, Chittagonga, Black Spanish and Pol ish breeds were represented. One coop of turkeys and two of the common breed of ducks were exhibited.

Domistic, Mechanical and Hobxiccltural Department. The display in the large covered building fully equal, if not superior, to that of any former The Floral display made by G. W. Twias, of Rockford, a practical florist, was rery fine. ww ne naa splendid Vanliaa, Pansies, Asters, Japan Pinka, Phlox, Ac, in great perfection, showing what can be done in the open air.

Mr T. had no greenhouse plants, and yet pre sented a very rich display, which attracted the spectators. We noticed another collection of splendid but did not learn the name of the exhibitor. In the line of fruits, there was a rery creditable show, evidencing that it ia quite possible to raise good fruit hereabouts, although, pro- perly speaking, Northern Illinois is not held to be surpassingly adapted to fruit culture. Mr.

Jaa. Kelly exhibited a rery large number of raneUes of apples, all fair, nice fruit; Mr. W. H. Gilmar Mr.

Gould and others, contri buted some fine apples from their orchards. There was a fair display of Grapes, John Trumanhauaer, S. W. Bristol and Shearman, or Kockford, being the principal exhibitors. Ihe rarieties were Isabella, Diana, Concord.

Delaware, Connecticut, Hartford Proline. Mrr Shearman ahowed the Black Hamburg, Golden Chasselag, Syrian, grown under glasa, with a sample of the Adirondac, grown in the open irJWa tested this gwpe and found it delicious; it rery nearly approaches the Delaware in purity of flavor, while it is a large arape. This rariety ia a great acquisition to the list of hardy grapes. S. W.

Bristol exhibited some good samples of pears. Irt the line of grain and vegetables there wss a limited show. Wa noticed some ripe corn, aome apecimens of 1 Spring, with a a mall assortment of mammoth cabbages, beets, carrots, potatoes, Ac, with about a peck of large sued sweet The season is too backward, and many kinds of vegetables hare not arrived at perfection. S. S.

Stroud exhibit a new raiiety of sweet corn, which he claimato be rery superior. The ear and kernel raNgery large and it continues in season for eankiogiOnger than any other variety known. It is a. hybrid of the common sweet corn and the big'Southern corn. Seme portly cheeses were on exhibition, as wall aa Several samples imtter; but time ar.d space will not allow eren a brief mention of the different items composing the catacomb of objects of interest displayed io the building.

so we will pass orer the apeoimens of needle workqailts, embroidery, ic displays, Ac, Ac, as it woa impossible to take, note of them alL Mr. J. Phillipa' aweet MViiuCPeatiatry ahowed excellent ship. TheSewing macbinee were repraseated, anfrtlw atrihiffTiTalry was aa intense as usuaL Mrs. E.
