Timber St. Phone 289*9172 District 202 Enrolls 1,289 KNOXVILLE—A total of 1,289 students enrolled in District 202 schools when classes began Tuesday. Yesterday's classes were dismissed early in the afternoon. However, a full day of school was held today. It was noted that this year's enrollment was slightly under that of last year's total of 1,302. The high school today reported 420 enrolled; junior high, 217; Appleton Grade School, 52; DeLong Grade School, 47; Gilson Grade School, 87; East Galesburg Highland School, 95 and Mable Woolsey Elementary, 371. All vacancies on the faculty Were recently filled with the employment of Duane Gullett, industrial arts instructor, and Mrs. Lucille McBride and Mrs. Goodwin, part-time elementary teachers. Other new teachers in the unit this year include Harding C. Williams, high school principal; Leo Cummings, Mable Woolsey Elementary School principal; Mrs. Kay Ann Welch, ninth grade English; Mrs. Lucille Cummings, vocational horns economics; Robert Rayburn, social studies and general business; Robert Johnson, seventh grade social studies, and Mrs. Phyllis Linder, elementary teacher. Student Nurse Is Honored at Dinner A potluck dinner was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Ginther in New Philadelphia Sunday, honoring their daughter Janet, who entered nurse's training at Graham Hospital in Canton Monday. During the afternoon many gifts were presented the honoree and pictures taken of the group. Those attending from Knoxville area were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Farrar, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter, Terry and Judy, Linda and Larry Dougherty, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Duncan and Terry, also Mr. and Mrs. Herb Wilkins of Avon and Scott Ginther. Milo Gottrick Dies Word has been received of the death of Milo Gottrick Aug. 21 at Los Angeles, Calif. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gottrick who were former residents here and he received his schooling in Knoxville. He is survived by a son Paul, also of Los Angeles, and one brother Clifford (Tip) Gottrick, who is now seriously ill at the Veterans Hospital in Wadsworth, Kan. New Screen Partners NEW YORK (AP) - Leopoldo Torre-Nilsson, Argentina's best- known screen writer-director, is to make his first English language film in collaboration with Paul Heller, sponsor of "David and Lisa." The picture, tentatively entitled "The Beautiful Family," is to be based, like several previous Torre-Nilsson works, on a short story by his wife, Beatrice Guide The director's partnership with Heller resulted from the two having met at the Venice and San Francisco movie festivals. Scandia Restaurant, 108 E, Main St., has been purchased by Ronald and Donald Sitzman and will be known as the Twin Chefs Restaurant, Inc. The Sitztnans have a good deal of experience behind them. Don- Academy Buys Building NEW YORK (AP) - By way of getting ready for its 80th anniversary next year, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts has bought a six-story Madison Avenue building in which to expand activities. Alumni of the school include Spencer Tracy, Kirk Douglas, Rosalind Russell and Grace Kelly. The structure originally was the home of' the exclusive Colony Club and was designed by Stanford White. Ronald also has managed Grier restaurants there and is presently with O. T. Johnson Co. The restaurant has been under its present name since 1948 under John Ankersen, owner also of the Scandia Bakery and Lunch, 326 E. Main St. Ankersen said he will continue to operate the bakery, as he has since 1935. Under different names the restaurant is the oldest in Galesburg records, Ankersen said. The Twin Chefs, prior to opening for business Tuesday, will serve free coffee Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m. to get-acqualnted with patrons. Planning an European-American menu, the Twin Chefs also will feature a businessman's buffet. Party and banquet rooms will be available. A grand opening is slated Sept. 8. Back in The Show NEW YORK (AP) — A famous George and Ira Gershwin song is going to be sung in a revival of the show for which it was written 40 years ago. The melody is "The Man I Love," the musical, "Lady Be Good." An off-Broadway production is scheduled next fall by Keith Holzmen, Robert Kreis and Richard Pohlers. The number was dropped from the score during out-of-town tryout, and subsequently fared no better in two other Gershwin shows, finally was released as a single — and jumped into the list of all-time favorites.
