mar ket wag lower today but showed firmnens at the close owing to more favorable Views of the coal situation and of Mex ican affaire After selling off from 3440 cents to 3385 cents March closed at 3425 cents with the genera list closing firm at a net decline of 14 to 65 points Relatively easy cables and increused crop estimates seemed to be largely ac countable for the earlier selling The market opened easy at a decline4 of 25 to 50 points with January selling off to 3645 cents and May to 3238 cents right after the call when active months were about 40 to 60 points net lower There were rallies of several points from this level on Liverpool and Japanese buy ing while there was also domestic trade buying and covering but the market weakened again during the early after noon on reports of a diminishing spot de mand and easier spot basis January was relatively firm but later months made new lows with May selling at 3195 cnts or about 83 points not lower while July at one time showed a net loss of 98 pointe There was renewed covering and trade buying at this level and last prices were 35 to 50 points up from the lowest with Liverpool a good buyer in the late trading A prominent Southern authority esti mates ginning to Dec 1 at 8993000 bales and the tint crop at 11128000 hales the highest private estimate so far published This was a factor in Liverpool and was considered responsible for part of the early selling here The average of esti mates hv members of the New York Cot ton Exchange points to a crop of 10700 000 halos and members of the Little Rock Exchange county on the peti tion of Wm Brown et al Blds shall be for the completion of the Improvement In accordance with the re port and profile and plans and specifica tions therein set forth now on file in tho office of the auditor of said county and shall include all labor and material for said Improvement Each bill shall be accompanied by a non collusion affidavit as by statute re quired and by a bond in a sum equal to double the amount of the bid to be ap proved by the Board of Commissioners conditioned on the faithful performance of the work and conditioned further for the benefit of any person persons or cor poration who shall suffer any loss or damage by reason of such bidder failing or neglecting to enter Into a contract to perform the work bid on or to carry out the same in any particular or to pay for any labor or material that shall have been furnished to said con tractor or to hte agents or employes duly authorized to act for said contractor in behalf In the construction
