Aa a sample of the thinness of much of the alleged news about Mr. Adlal E. Stevenson, the Tice presidential nominee, the following from the MlnneapoU Tribune of Sunday Is interesting. Th writer of the article was hard pressed for timely matter and having a great man In his neighborhood, felt called upon to provide news of him. The business interests of Mr.

Stevenson all lie in Bloomlngton, his home ia here and it Is not likely that the idea of changing his residence has ever occurred to him. The article is. however. Interesting aa fairy tales many times are: "Adlal Stevenson, former vice president of tbe United State, and candidate of the Democratic and Silver Republican parties for re-election to that office, has announced his Intention to remove to Minneapolis. The' fact of hla intended removal was told to a friend some days ago, before the Democrats at Kansas City had decided to make him their candidate; and it may be tbat he will now consider it good politics to retain his legal residence in Illinois.

"However that may be. it is certain tbat he had intended to make Minneapolis hla future place of residence, and that he doea la fact regard this city his home. "The statement was made during a private conversation with a friend. It was given publicity by that friend, who was overjoyed at the announcement. "in the light of his candidacy, however, Mr.

may be expected to post pone his Intended removal. He will figure that Stevenson of Illinois would prove more potent as a vote-getter than Stev enson of Minnesota. "Mr. Stevenson has several private reasons for wishing to make the change. Hla daughter realties in Minneapolis, and he wants to be with her.

He likes the Minnesota climate. He has spent much of hla time during the past four years in this city, and he likes the town. Moreover, he haa few reasons for remaining In Illi nois. "Chairman Jones, of the Democratic na tlonal committee, is expected to arrive at Minnetonka, where Mr. Steveneon now is.

within a few days. If the projected re moval should be mentioned to him he would undoubtedly interpose a decided negative. Mr. Stevenson knows this and he will act accordingly. "Moreover, he himself realizes tbat 1111 oois Is a better strategical point, political ly speaking, thaa Minnesota.

"In the event of Democratic defeat, however, Mr. Stevenson may be expected to carry hia pet project into effect before the arrival of the new year. He wants to become a Mlnnesotaa more than he wants anything else, except the vice presidency, but he will not Jeopardise his chances of returning to Washington unnecessarily. MR. STEVENSON'S OVATION.

From tba Minneapolis Tribune of Sunday, comes ths following account of honor paid to Mr. Adlal E. Stevenson by summer visitors to Minnetonka Beach: Adlal Stevenson, the Democratic nomi nee for vice president, waa accorded hla first real ovation since his nomination at a late hour last night. A gay and enthusiastic party of about 150 persons, consisting of guests from the Lake Park hotel and cottagers, attending tbe regular Saturday evening bop, crossed the lake to Minnetonka Beach on the large steamer Mayflower. They were accompanied by the Bijou orcbeetra, with which they Invaded the stillness- of the midnight hour.

Proceeding to tbe summer residence of Dr. M. H. Hardin, of whom Mr. Stevenson is a guest, tbe vice presidential candidate was vigorously serenaded.

Mr. Stevenson arose and thanked the serenaders very warmly for 'their con gratulations and greeted each by the hand. ascribes the llaran. A FITTING NAME. I ran think of ao more fitting aame tbaa White Horse aa It looks Just like a white horse shaking its mane. Just below the raplda la a grave yard which tells tbe e'ory of the mea who had more nerve lhaa sense, and tried the trip without a pilot ar knowledge of the danger.

We had two or three old rtver men with who talked very loud beforehand about being able to take lb scows through, but after tbey bad mad tb trip, they were tbe meekest set of men you ever saw. and oo French Canadian said: "If I want commit snlclde I will try that without a pilot.
