Elephants Panic Pomona in 2-Hour Rampage Special to The Mirror POMONA, March 25-Two circus elephants ran amuck here for nearly two hours just before last midnight, throwing a large area of this sedate injuring an attendant who Widespread damage chain link fences, trampled hedges, and torn lawns and flower gardens: The circus attendant, Leroy Spellman, 29, suffered possible internal injuries, fractured ribs, and multiple abrasions when one of the elephants, a four-ton picked him up in her trunk, dashed him to the ground and partly rolled on him. A blast from the streamliner's whistle frightened the huge beasts and two of them broke away from their handlers to pound off into the darkness.

Within minutes the police station switchboard was deluged with- calls from frightened residents who told hysterically of monsters thudding through yards and crashing through fences. All available police from two shifts surrounded the area under direction of Sgt. E. S. Stevens and began a safari that went on city into a panic and critically tried to recapture them.

Robinson was found lying on Santa Monica just west of La Cienega last night by Cab Driver Donald Kerns. Robinson was transferred to Cedars of Lebanon Hospital. Emergency treatment by Dr. Nichols was credited with saving life of the actor. He also suffered a leg injury.

The Weather Bureau predicted "scattered cloudiness" today and lower temperatures.

Rain Cuts Power Last night's downpour began just before the homeward rush, resulting in scores of minor traffic accidents. Storm drains were flooded and getting home was an amphibious operation in many parts of Los Angeles.
