Sunday morning, September 12, 1976 Middletown, N.Y., 10940 172 Pages Army posts 16-6 triumph over Lafayette Summary, Page 1 14 By LENI MUSCARELLA Assistant Sports Editor WEST POINT Army quarterback Leamon Hall teamed up with tight end Clenme Brundidge 10 times for 142 yards and a touchdown Saturday to lead the Cadets to a 16-6 victory over Lafayette in the season opener for both teams If not for the passing and reception of a letter this past summer, however, the combination that was the Army offense this sunny afternoon at Mictue Stadium might never have been Brundidge. a 6-4. 220-pound sophomore, decided in June to stop playing football and concentrate on basketball. He played both his freshman year but found West Point academics a difficult task with the constant activity A letter from Hall helped change his mind "Leamon just said he felt I could play a big part in the team's season." Ron LeFlore, who bad four hits, opened the game with a single, stole second and rode home on Rusty Strata's single.
