It may be of interest to tlie readers of the Pantaobaph to know something of the transxrtation business in Bloomington, and especially of the manner in which the firm of McKisson and Payne carry on their business as proprietors of their well-known omnibus and carriage line. Certainly they have reasou to feel that success has rewarded energy and close application to business, for this is the observation of not only our own citizens but of the traveling community who are ever ready to speak a word of praise for the good manage ment that these gentlemen have made characteristic of the business of conveying passengers, baggage and mail during their control of the line. Mr. C. Perry McKisson has been In the business since 1802.

He was for some time associated with' father-in-law, Esquire Taveuner, and afterward, and about three years ago, formed a partnership with Mr. Leroy Payne, who had moved to this city from Kankakee and established an Independent line. The firm own twenty-eight horses all se lected with care and esjiecially adapted to the business. The number of omnibuses is three, aud that of carriages six, all of which are con stantly employed In attending to the wants of the traveling public. Besides the above the firm own several elegant private carriages, which are noted for their style aud beauty, The number of employe's engaged in ac tive employment including the members of the firm is about fifteen lie pay-roll amounting to $110 per week.

The stable of the line situated on East street, near the new Methodist church, is built of brick Is sixty-six by one hundred and forty-four, fitted up with all convenient appliances. The firm have the contract for carrying tlie United States mail, and are now using anew wagon for this purpose purchased only a few weeks ago. Besides tlie mail wagon two baggage wagons are coi staiitly lu use at tending the trains at all the depots In the city. The business is quite complicated and re quires a great deal of lalxir and system to carry it on lu a successful manner. The men are required to know Ihe names of all the streets and ihe numbers of the houses, and it really astonishing how accurately tliey drive to any Mi leuco within the city.

The orders for calls In every case receive tho pronqd at-t mtion of tlie lirui. At all times some portion of the Hue Is lu use, and fifteen trains each day demand their attention. Kor tlw pei-fuct system and in iuagetneiit of the Blooiuiiiglou omnibus line these gentlemen constantly receive well merited praise, and are meeting wllh tlie patronage that tlielr attention and energy deserve. No city of tweiry thoustud inhabitants can boaat of a more peifeet line of public conveyance lhau that oft' firm of McKiaaou Pa) ue. I ssktltHiM Meat.
