The sheriff, together with his family and furniture, changed quarters yesterday from tbe old jail, corner of Center and Market, to the new structure on the corner of Madison and North. The furniture was moving yesterday, and a few minutes before six o'clock last evening, with the help of the deputies and constables, the prisoners were transferred to their new and more magnificent quarters. The eyes of each and every one of them opened with astonishment as they viewed the strength, beauty and pro-nortiona of tills their new home. As is customary with the first occupants of a jail, the prisoners were allowed to choose their own Icells, and each appeared very well satisfied with the new quarters. AMUSEMENTS.

The Inquest which Acting Coroner Law-ence waa called upon to hold, tear Danvera, on yeaterday forenoon, waa the foiirUi which had occupied bit attention thlt week. The facts seem to he I hut a young German, Frank l.oult Du Boise, who had been living in Uils county two or three years, working for his un. le, Gut Heusel, living north of tbe town of Danvers, had disagreed with the un-cl, and had left the place to leek work lse-where. He applied for work at Hlikent' tile factory, wctt of Danvera, and fulling there went to a farmer's house, near by, for whom he had worked lcfore, und whose name Is Ue Radclllle.

WOCliXKH KXOXKKATED. tfter a Three Days' star natiioer mysiery tbe People Thow I'p the Lynch Ifomlclde. About yesterday afternoon the Jury, summoned to hold an Inquest on the death of Michael Lynch, reacbcS tbe conclusion of their labors, and rendered a verdict which, iu their Inherent and inscrutable chose not to make public, but of which the following it a truthful paraphrase: We, the Jury, Impaneled to hold an Inquest Into the death of Michael Lynch, find that the eald Michael Lynch came to bit death from the effects of doited blood pressing on the bruin, caused by a blow oi the head Inflicted by some person unknown. After three days' bard work, they had been unable to tlx the crime upon any one in particular, and to the Btate'i attorney at once ordered the discharge of Mr.

Frank Wochncr, who had been hem upon certain nurti.in information not sustained by the In quest. Ho far, therefore, as the original ar rest Wochncr it entirely acquitted. Jle is, however, subject to arrest at the order of an Itidictmet't of the grand jury, which it Improbable from the character of the testimony, riimnnr. It is always to be regretted, for the take of Mr. Wochner aud othere who were mentioned as being possibly Implicated in the killing of Lynch, that the investigation was conducted in secret.

It it no more than proper that, these persons having been accused of such heinous crime, the public should have been given the testimony In the case. was the case of the People for the investigation of a serious crime, and the people can see uo good reason why they should not have been allowed to listen to the evidence. We understand that there was nothing approaching positive proof of tbe criminalty of any one particular person, A Tree Agent In Trouble. J. M.

Kane, a traveling agent at the Phoenix nursery. Is in trouble. He is a bard drinker, and has been that for some years. Last fall Kane went to towns along the Jacksonville line of the C. A.

road, and jeeceded in taking a large number of orders for nursery stock, to be delivered this spring. During the winter his supply of ready cash run out, and Kane called upon Mr. Win. R. Baldwin, of Delavan, for assistance, giving his orders as security.

Mr. Baldwin relieved his financial embarrassment, and accepted the orders. A short time ago Mr. Baldwin dis covered that Kane was indebted to a number of people in the towns where the trect were to be delivered. That Kane could deliver the trees and repay his Indebtedness to Mr.

Baldwin, was out of the question, and Arthur Norton, of Delavan, was accordingly sent over the road to attend to the business and collect sufficient money to secure Mr. Baldwin. After Baldwin was made secure Kane resumed business and kept at work until he got drunk. With (150 which be had collected, at Koodhoute he bought a draft on Baldwin's batik payable to Baldwin. He was put off a tram at Delavan drunk, and on tbe next train went to Mlnier.

At Minier he forged the endorsement of Baldwin, but the draft as endorsed was refused at first, but finally Mr. Railsback paid him on it, and a due bill for the balance. Kailsback went to Delavan und finding that tbe endorsement was a forgery, Railsback compromised by letting Kane I.ay back the money, but the 8tate's attorney tearing of the affair had Kane arrested, and he is now held in default of $400. A Hagnaniuions Gift. Colonel Ralph Plumb, of Strcator, is building, at his own expense entirely, a grand school house, which will cost and which he will give to the city of Streator as soon as it Is complete.

The building is built of brick, and from basement to cupola has all the modern Improvements. Special attention has been given to ventilation both to heat, the distribution of fresh air through tbe building, and to carry off the foul air. Tbe Intention of the high school building is to fit pupils for college, after they complete the course in the public school. This grand present will only a little the more endear Col. Plumb to the good people of his town, for he Is already shrined In their esteem.

He baa also remembered the Ladies' Library Association of Streator, having, in the construction of a new building for his bank, coal office, Ac, provided the library with commodious quarters, in which the association have volumes. If Bloomington had a few such big hearts among her capitalists, the town would grow faster. Will Probably Separate. Yesterday a young lady appeared before a prominent lawyer of the city in order to consult with him in regard to applying for a divorce. The parties in the case are both very well known iu the city and were mar.

ried about two years ago in Southern Illinois. Since their marriage the husband, as she says, has totally neglected to provide means of support or in any way provide for the life or comfort of tbe wife and child, now alKxrt a year old. He has at different times, according to the statement, been cruel to the young wife, who was beguiled into marriage with the worthless fellow. He has had several positions on the Alton road, all of which he lost on account of his shiftleesness and untrustworthy character. His wife, on the other hand, it a handsome young girl, being sun unuer twenty years oi aire, and Is evi dently entirely too good for the man who has Induced her to marry hiin.

Tbe coming holidays 111 be more gen erally observed than for many years, and we would remind our readers that a bottle of Dr. liuii'a Cough Syrup will pjove a most ac- ceptauie nonuay present. WANTIO. tlTANTRll -A iiIM in, l.v competent lady, VV a. uurw.
