support which has been given heretofore to the market by large buying from the West and SouthSuch buying was conspicuous for its absence in session professional Wall street having the whole Dung to itself for the first time since the last upward movement began Good scale buying went ou In the better grade of stocks but this buying was not of sunl cient proportions to interfere with the selling movement that was conducted from tho outset by the professional floor tracers In addition to such selling there was also scattered selling from commission houses as a result of mar gin calls but this amount to much It was for the most part con fined to specialties which have thus far held very well in the declining move ment Sentiment in commission house cir cles was very bearish which probably accounts for the failure of new buying to make its appearance to check the professional selling Another disap pointing feature was the fact that stocks refused to rally at the closing Usually on Saturdays the stocks rally after a selling movement on short cov ering and evening up transactions by traders who make It a rule never to carry stocks over the week end The fact that they did not rallv today in dicated that traders were having an easy time to cover commitments which had been put over earlier in the week Still the market was an ordinary affair with all that with no indications
