of four counts of bribery includ ing accepting a Cadillac and $5000 in cash from local attorney John Barkett to keep clients out of prison Barkett convicted of bribing Widens will not be eligible for to build cable television system is making preparations to open a local office-studio on Lander Avenue The firm formerly called National TransVideo Inc will open an office at 910 and 916 Lander Avenue in a building formerly occupied by Volk Manufacturing Co Inc The cable television franchise was granted to NTV-Sammons in 1970 but the firm made very little progress on the local system until late Voters also approved a measure to elect a mayor and four councilmen by a vote of 730 to 602 and approved a two-year term for the mayor by 910 to 392 A third measure for four-year term for mayor was defeated 480 to 626 The approved measures will go into effect two years from now There was an approximate 50 per cent turnout of voters with 1426 voting out of a possible 2856 Ripon Firm Is To Build STOCKTON The City of Stockton has adopted an ordinance banning the use of professional strikebreakers although it does not prohibit management from keeping the business open during a strike Under the new ordinance it will be unlawful for an employer to knowingly employ a strikebreaker or for a strikebreaker to knowingly offer himself for employment in place of a striking employe The new ordinance was adopted at the urging of representatives of the Central Labor Council Teamsters Local 439 Building Trades Council and other unions It was opposed by Roderick Barklow executive vice president of
