TRAGEDY struck in her back yard, and the Happy Valley plane crash above, that claimed four uves Wednesday is something Mrs. James Tester says she'll "never get over." "If (he tax proposal by Hie By ERBIN BAUMGARDNER Times-Newi Staff Writer ELIZABETHTON It was a couple of minutes after 7 o'clock Wednesday night, and Mrs. James Tester was standing at her kitchen sink peeling The five kids were perched on chairs in the living room directly behind her watching a movie on television.

Her husband, James, was working at a near-by plant in Elizabelh- ton. It was just an ordinary night for the Testers in their modest house, on Judge Litlle Pike. "I WAS right here at the stove fixin' to make a pot of potato soup," said a very nervous Mrs. Tester, "And (hen I heard (he motors of a plane and said to myself, 'Thai plane's awful close to the ground'." The woman heard the explosion and saw the flames. AND THEN all of a sudden Happy Valley wasn't happy anymore, and the tragic news spread through the community almost as fast a's the flames ale up the metal airplane fuselage.

"I panicked," said Mrs. Tester. "I ran to the phone and screamed for the operator, but I couldn't get her." From thai time until well after midnight, Mrs. Tester kept pacing the floor and glancing out the window at the smoldering wreckage which claimed four lives, and she took another tranquilizer to calm her nerves. "I'LL NEVER.be the same living here.

"They said we'd get some money out of it and that everything would be paid for, but I couldn't take money for something like that." The twin-engine four-passenger plane crashed about 150 feet from where Mrs. Tester was preparing supper. Aviation fuel sprayed onto a small shed which contained baled Iiay, a pet raccoon, and a pet rabbit. THE WOODEN shed was engulfed by flames, and the family's Terrier, penned beside the shed, began to bark and run the length of the wire cage looking for a way out. "A neighbor let Spot out," she said, adding, "I don't know what we'd of done if he'd burned up he's just like one of the family." The Tester home turned into a communications station for rescue squad workers, news reporters, television camera-men all trying to get a chance at the wall phone connected to a party line with eavesdroppers spreading the tragic news through the community.

"I don't think I'll ever get over it," Mrs. Tester said, exhausted. "This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me." MRS. SPEAKING OF YOUR HEALTH What Causes Ear Blockage? WHAT causes a blocked sensation in the ears? A large accumulation of hard, impacted wax can cause this.

If, after the wax is removed, the. full feeling is still present, the chances are that the blockage is due fo some disorder of the Euslachian tube. This tiny tube runs from the back of the nose to the middle ear. If this opening is blocked a i swelling, infection, a a polyps or adenoids, air fails fo enter it and causes the blocked feeling. The same mechanism is at work when a temporary, fullness of the ear happens during a rapid descent in an elevator or in an airplane.

The treatment is simple and must be unhurried. The anxiety of people to seek rapid relief can be more injurious than beneficial. Can people ever regain their speech after a stroke? If the part of the brain that has been damaged by a stroke is small, speech may return after a few months. The center of speech in a right-handed person is on the W. J.

The movies must make a sacrifice for baseball. Every spring sees a lot of publicity about some star baseball player threatening to quit the game if he does not gel a belter contract. And all the fans nave the jitters. In spite- of the fact that nc- body ever heard of a star player actually quitting while he was still good. Said Mr.

and Mr. That is all I've got to say! Baseball is a funny game. It won't be long before we see tome second division team i i knocking a $100,000 pifcher out of the box. It is rumored that having agreed fo pay big figures for the services of their two pitchers the club had to turn around and pay out fancy figures to insure their services from being interrupted by injuries. Speaking of baseball what does a seven-foot basketball player do when the basketball season is over? And while we are on the subject of ball, there is the story that a football coach points out that football players cannot be dumb because learning the various plays is a form of mathematics.

Okay. And It Is a form of mathematics for which the teachers get much better salaries than teaching the regular kind of Crime does not pay? The speech center in a left-handed person is on the right side of the brain. If the blood supply to this area is temporarily disturbed by a spasm or small stroke, the speech can return and can be benefited by speech training during the rehabilitation proc- ss.

Can a chronic lung condition affect the heart? Chronic bronchitis, emphysema and olher respiratory conditions add a definite burden fo the heart. The heart muscle itself needs a great deal of oxygen in order to function properly. If the lungs are in poor condition, the blood is lacking in its normal amount of oxygen and (lie heart then is deprived of its oxygen needs and can be affected. The heart and lungs are a unit whose capacily io function mutually depend on each other's health. What is blood fest? the sedimentation A small amount of blood is removed from the vein in the arm and poured info a tall, thin glass tube that contains an anticoagulant.

The red blood cells then settle fo the bottom, leaving clear plasma on top. The speed with which the red blood cells settle to the bottom is called the sedimentation rate. The sedimentation rale is more rapid when (here is active infection in the body. Often serious diseases and some cancers reflect themselves in a rapid "sed rate."
