27. 1942 SENSATIONAL NEW OFFER BY THE DAILY MEWS Map plan lo coordinate war relief tS'-fiy Representatives of the major war relief agencies now operating In Southern California yesterday announced plans for formation of a central committee for the coordination of all fund raising activities. Plans provide for the creation of a United Nations War Relief committee composed of. a group of business and civic leaders and representatives of United China Relief, Russian War Relief and British War Purpose of the coordinating committee would be to help individual agencies work' in harmony aa that their efforts would supplement each other; Each relief agency would maintain its own Identity and function aa an- independent organization. Individual programs and 1 events, would bo continued but on a coordinated schedule.

Elimination of Incessant and reiterated appeals for funds and avoidance of duplicated efforts Is expected to result from the adoption of the proposed plan. Through consolidation of certain phases of operations it is believed that greater 1 efficiency 1 and administration economies should result. Participating in yesterday's Joint meeting of major relief agencies were David R. Farles, president of Russian War Relief Association of Southern California; Basil Rathbone, chairman of the Southern California committee for British War Relief; Manchester Boddy, editor and publisher of the Dally News and head of United China Relief in Southern California. Relief executives expressed the belief that a coordination of activities la Southern California might be expected to lead a nationwide movement for the consideration of all relief appeals into a single campaign.

Further meetings of the three organizations will be held this week in an effort to speed the adoption of the coordinated program.
