What's Your Style In 'Sockmanship'? What's your style of "socksman- ship?" It may reveal a few secrets about your personality. Of course white cotton knit socks and canvas shoes are standard for teens on campus. But "socksmanship" is the way you wear your socks — up, down or over. Each style is named for a dance, each style fits a different personality. Check the list. Then if the sock fits — wear it. the Pony: Socks worn straight up, smooth and neat, are definitely "in." If you go for tthe Pony style, you're right in step with fashion. Chances are you're known as a campus leader. You're the first with a new hair style, new dances like the Pony, and new jargon. You probably go for ivy league colors and • sharp, tailored clothes. The latest teen trick is to use a whisk of spray-on starch to keep socks high and handsome. For the Pony style, spray socks with Faultless Spray-on starch once while damp. After you put on the dry socks, use an additional whisk of spray-on starch to, keep them in place. The Twist: Pull socks straight up, then twist them around the leg so the ribbing of the sock has a spiral effect. Hold in place with a puff of spray-on-starch. If you wear your socks in the Twist, you're in with the crowd but you have a special fashion all your own. Your friends probably envy your unique style. You're not afraid to wear bold color combinations and high-style clothes. You are the big idea girl with an artistic flair. The Hully-Gully: Pull socks straight up, spray with starch, then turn tops over to form a one-inch cuff. The gal who wears the Hully-Gully knows about new fashion, but has a strong conservative hair style. You're not a leader, but rate high on the popularity list with both guys and gals. The Masked Potato: This style starts out as a straight-up sock, but ends up drooping around the ankle in limp folds. The Mashed Potato is great as a dance, but bad news in socks. If this is your style, it's time for reform. Get a new hair style, check over your wardrobe, and pull up your socks. Save cardboard to use as a liner for a cake that is to be put in the freezer. Cut the cardboard to fit the cake and wrap with clear plastic wrapping before placing it under the dessert. Van Tine Kin Gather At Monmouth WHAT'S THE LATEST?—These Galesburg coeds ponder the question in front of a skirt rack in a local department store. They have checked all the fashion magazines and read all about the college fashion trends this fall. Now it's time to supplement the checking with the buying and each coed wants to make sure that what she will have will be at least a little different than what her roommate or dorm-mate wjll have. If not, then the newly purchased wear goes to the attic or stays behind at home.
