F. P. Hohfield of Soso traded in Laurel Tuesday. William Hosey, of Vernon, was trading in Laurel Wednesday. Harvey Eaton of Taylorsville was in town on buisness Tuesday.

N. P. Welborne of Soso was doing buisness here the first of the week. Reports have come in from all directions that the rain Tuesday was general. Rosie Bush, a.

prosperous farmer of west Joues, was in town Tuesday. Mrs. J. A. Yarbrough, who has been ill some weeks is convalescent.

J. E. Collins and D. W. Grafton were doing business in Laurel Saturday.

W. H. Grace, cashier of the Bank of Richton, was in Laurel Tuesday. Mr. J.

H. Rogers, of Pachuta was a pleasant caller at the Led- gor office last Monday. E. Yarbrough and wife, of Richton were up to hear Bob Taylor Friday night. "Bud Ike" Ilosey of Vernon, Jasper County, was doing buis- ness in Laurel Wednesday.

There was some commotion about Travis' livery stable Tuesday morning. Dr. Tisdale and T. M. Travis had some words which resulted in blows.

O.Williams, farmer and sawmill man of Hosey, Jasper County, was in Laurel, Wednesday. Wafford Collins, a prosperous young farmer of West Jones', was in Laurel on business Saturday. Othe Harpe representing the Chicago Lumber and Coal of St. Louis, was in the city Monday on business. N.

L. Pearson, a prosperous farmer and stockraiser sold 1000 pounds of wool in Laurel Saturday. V. M. Lacey representing the Emparia Lumoer Houston, Texas, was in town Tuesday looking after the interests of his company.

G. D. Hitchcock, of Haney, was in town several days this week superintending the installation of a small saw mill on the south of town. Sam and John Lindsey, made an auto trip to Hattiesburg Saturday returning Monday. They report a very pleasant trip except a few mishaps.

Reports that come in from east Jones say that there was considerable wind i a evening which blew down tinber and some outhouses. Prof. T. E. Waldrup, whose health has been poor this spring left Tuesday for a short stay at Mammoth Springs Hattisburg.

W. I. Sherman of Alvarado Texas, an old resident of Jasper county, was in here Tuesday prospecting with a view to move- ing back. Mr. A.

Huston, who has been traveling for the Lindsey Wagon Co. for the bast two years and now located at Nachadoohes Texas, is in Lauiel this week visiting relatives and friends. S. F. nhigpen, editor of the Bay Springs News, one of the best weeklies in southeast Mississippi, was shaking hands with his many friends between trains here Wednesday.

T. W. and Frank Loctt whose case came up in Judge Price's court Friday waived examination and gave bond in the sum of S500, for their appearance at circuit court. Secretary of the State Powers expense account of the last session of the Legislature shows it to be $7,550,397.91, the largest expenditure in the history of the Mississippi legislature. The revival meeting at West End Baptist church is moving on nicely under Rev.

Bamber. He is a splendid spokesman and his services are full of Christian spirit. A fine rain fell at Laurel Tuesday evening, and the reports that came in seem to indicate that it was general. E. Smith and wife of Cleo, were in Laurel Monoay, Mrs. Smith has been suffering from a very severe trouble in her ear for several months and came in with a view of going to a specialist, but declined the idea after having local physicians to make examinations. Superintendent H. L.

Whitfield announces the following summer normals; University Normal opened June 18; Columbus Primary Normal will open on June 26; the A. M. Normafl June 26; the Clinton Normal, July 2. All will have a four week's session. The seven year old son of John Galoway happened to a very painful accident last week by stepping on a piece of broken glass.

A deep gash two inches long was cut which bled considerably. Thursday he was brought to town and several pieces of fractured glass removed from the wound. Hon. W. H.

Hughes, Raliegh, Smith county, canidate for district attorney of the new 13th circuit court district, was in town Monday and made an appointment to address the people Monday night at the Y.M. C. A. hall, but his audience being small, owing to the enclemency of the weather, he did not speak. The negroes of Hattisburg have on foot a plan for the establishment of a Normal and Industrial school.

P. F. Williams an industrious and intellegent negro from Brookhaven ia at the head of the movement. A company has been formed and the charter sent to the Govenor for apdroval. Their claim to the favor of the white people is based on the fact that they will teach the hands to work, mind to think, and foul to love.

Hobbs received Thursday from his mother, Mrs. I. M. Hobbs of Crystal Springs, a case of fine luoious tomatoes, such as they are shipping from there daily by the oar load, such to as Laurel could no doubt ship by the car load at a profit. On account of Summer School for teachers the will round trip tickets to Columbus at rate of one fare plus $5c.

H. House of the U. S. Army is at home on two months furloguh. He went first to Ft.

Riley, Kansas where he remained three years. From there he went to Fort Pickens where he has been for one year. After his vacation he will return. He is a brother to Thomas, Claudius and Jack Howse of Laurel. In the presence of the assembled wedding guest at the home of his intended bride, Comfort Texas, Joe Reinhart shot and instantly killed Miss Ernestine Kutzer and then shot himself with probably fatal results a few minutes before they were to have been married.
