Viola Airman Ends Basic Training Duties VIOLA — Gary Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Cook, has completed his basic training at San Antonio, Tex., and will leave San Antonio Aug. 20 for Chanute Field, for further training in technical schooling. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Birkhead have returned to their home in Waterloo following a few days visit with Birkhead's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Birkhead. Californians Visit at Viola Mr. and Mrs. Herb Kirtchner of Pacific Palisades, Calif., visited Wednesday with Miss Amy Bryan, and here received word of the death of their brother-in- law, Kenneth Burbach of Portage, Wis., and left to go on to Portage the same day. Mrs. Kirtchner and Mrs. Burbach are the former Irene and Grace Evans, former Viola residents.
