SUGAR CREEK Mis Dully Roberts spent Sunday wIMi Charlotte King, The d-iwnpour of rain Saturday night will delay corn planting again but fanners are still htful for a late fall and the corn that is up hasn't a very good color.

Too much rain. Oats are liegiuniug to head out and hay looks good. Knssell and Mary Roberts of Clark City visited their grandparents, I height, Recently took a scout us far east as the J. N. Gregory home, in order to see rural conditions and study them officially.

That's the proper method of learning subjects of historic value. It Is Just as well to state that farming affairs are seriously held in suspension, abnormally, and are three to four weeks behind average seasons. Not only lnte, but the cool condition of the weather Is negative to oats, corn and other farm crops. These conditions are now In tbelr third year of rule and the wonder Is that there Is a serious alarm, financial panic and public uneasiness as to the safety of the chief food supply commodities of our land. There Is a possible calamity to a na tion which is more awful In Its visitation than a famine.

Through the kindness of artist Kin-kende and Lou Malone, the writer was treated to voyage over Into the Honey Creek church locality on Friday. Well, the entire way afforded pleasure and Instruction, for one learns In these rural scouts the reul condition of the country. The Honey Creek rhnrch building Is a plain and large edifice, with large church yard aud cemetery adjonlug which contains several acres. Mr. Kin-kada made the final inscription name mi the granite monument, that of Reuben A.

Lehman. The monuments contain the names of some very early settlers of the county, and as Is com mon in all cemeteries, there are many graves unmarked and names unknown. A row of eight graves Is seen, all without names. Near the church Is the home place of Rev. C.

8. Callihan, man so well known all over Clark county many years ago. The writer recalls that he mrt C. 8. Callihan years ago joined In county paper articles with Mr.

Beeson on the subject of county school supervision. The controversy was carried on through the columns of the Alexandria Commercial. Our Journey included the route by way of the Diamond school house and this shows a neat, well located temple of knowledge. These rural outposts are the safety of onr general diffusion of economic knowledge, and they should lie carefully guarded and per petrated against the consolidation propaganda of the schemer for large salaries. The safety of the county Is dependent upon the rural population.

Congestion and large cities have brought destruction upon nations and kingd-uns-and empires for thousands of years. WANDERING TRAIL Deferred from last week.) N. 8. 8. is progressing nicely.

Funeral services were held at the Xeeper Christian church Wednesday, June 8th at 2:00 P. M. Services were conducted by Rev. West of Kahoka. Mr.
