1972. Mrs. Birtles was born Nov. 12. 1874.

at Benenden. Kent, England, coming with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Spencer to Canada in 1388. She married Arthur Birties in 1399 at Birtle.

and resided in Alexander. until moving to Colonsay in 1910 to farm. On their re tirement from the farm they Came DaCK to Alexander, sne was predeceased by her bus-j band in 1951, a SOn WiUiam in 1906 and a daughter Elsie, i Mrs. George Burch, 1968. She leaves to mourn her passing one son.

Bom in I Montreal, "Kitty'' Strachan of Quebec City, then a senior executive with the Bank of 1 Montreal. He predeceased her in 1934. Mrs. Strachan was a long time member of St. George's Anglican Church, Crescentwood.

She moved to Brandon eight years ago to reside with her daughter. A son Hugh Strachan of Halifax also survives. There are also two grandsons. Wesley and Russell Emerson. Winnipeg.

a sister-in-law. Miss Evelyn Strachan or Quebec City and a brother George Tayior of I i B.C. Funeral i service was held on Saturday. Dec. 16, at II a.m., in the chapel of Chapel Lawn, Winnipeg.
