Interested in party harmony TEXT OF RESOLUTION FRANKFORT Ky May 12 (ffV-The adjournment resolution of Robert Watson Middlesboro adopted today by the Democratic State Central Executive Committee follows: the sudden passing of a beloved and distinguished Kentuckian the late United States Senator Alben Barkley has cast upon this committee the sad duty ultimately of selecting a Democratic nominee to seek election to he remainder of his unexpired term in the general election to be held In November of 1956 and Whereas shortly following the passing of Senator Barkley on April 30 1956 the governor of Kentucky- proclaimed a 30-day period of mourning on the part of the entire Commonwealth for Its tragic loss which period of mourning has not yet terminated and it is the feeling and belief of this committee that the disposition of high public office is a matter in which all of the citizens of Kentucky have a deep and legitimate concern that the selec- tlon of the Democratic nominee to compete for such office at the polls in November is further a matter that should be given the fullest most thoughtful and serious consideration and that iiP order best to further and promote the tra diions of harmony and party unity which are a part of Democratic history in Kentucky selection finally should be made of a nominee possessing the stature ability and qualifications for the office that will insure victory for our party in November and it is the sense and belief of this committee that were we yet so fortunate as to have available to us the guidance and sage counsel of that great Kentuckian whose death we now mourn we would be advised to approach a selection of our nominee only after serious and thoughtful effort had been made to determine the best qualified and most outstanding choice available and only after mature and studied reflection upon the part of each member of this committee therefore be it resolved that this meeting of the Kentucky State Democratic Central Executive Committee stand adjourned subject tor call at a future date and that no further action be now taken toward selection of a Democratic nominee for office of United States senator to fill the unexpired portion of the term of the late Senator Alben Barkley until such time as the entire membership of the committee has been afforded adequate opportunity to canvasa and consider carefully the choice and selection to he made thus enabling them to act in a manner best calculated to prompts unity and harmony within the party to insure victory for tnd our party in November and in accordance with the best interests of the Commonwealth and of all Its citizens" Theft Reported Theft of two paint drop-cloths sometime yesterday was reported to county police by William Ghil ir La:
