U-The SUN, Flagstaff, Arizona Thursday December 5, mi Cancer Society Workers Honored Volunteers who donated their time to the Coconino County Chapter ol the American Cancer Society received aivards at a dinner Wednesday in the Flagstaff Country Club. Among those honored were Ardeen Fredrick. Flagstaff residential chairman and outstanding volunteer for Coconino County; Michele Thurston, a youngster who single handedly raised $15" for the 1974 Bike-AThon; Tony Gabaldon, county chairman: and Charles Cornetr, county crusade chairman. This year's Cancer Society crusade in Coconino Couniy raised nearly 517,000. about $4,000 more than the goal.

Mr-ritt Kink of Phoenix, area co-ordinator for the Arizona Division of the American Cancer Society and guest speaker for the dinner, told of how all the muney donated in Arizona is returned back for use in the state in educational and research programs. The programs, he said, have had a significant impact in the reduction of deaths from breast cancer through ea'ly detection. County crusade chairman Corbet! noted the success of fund raising efforts in receni years. Five years ago. he said, $3,500 was raised, $6,500 three years ago and nearly SJ7.O0O this year.

Also, he said, with early detection of cancer, half Ihe cancer deaths could be eliminated. Weather Service, died Sunday, Dec. 1, in Salem. Ore. Miss Wonsetler was the U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War as an aerographer's mate in the Weather Service at Lakehurst.

N.J Miss Wonsetler entered the Weather Bureau after the war. serving at Los Angeles and Burbank, Calil then transferred to Salem. She transferred to Flagstaff from Salem in June. 1963. and remained at Flagstaff until her retirement in April.

1972. Miss Wonsetler was well versed in weather knowledge and piissessed a unique method of weather expression." chief meteorologist Paul IV Sorenson said today. Her only known survivor is her mother. Mrs Florence Wonsetler. beiieved to live in Phoenix.
