WEDDING BELLS SHAW-PAKE. The Rev. A. M. Sanford united in marriage, at the Princess street Methodist parsonage 01 Thursday evening, Frederick Chas.

Shaw and Charlotte Pake, both of this city. The young pair will make their future home on Princess street. -BRENTON. The marriage was solemnized at Christ church on Thursday afternoon of W. J.

Twiss, provincial manager of the Mutual Life of Canada, and Sadie Jewel, youngest Mrs. Eliza Brenton, of this bride. who was given away by her brother, looked lovely in 811 exquisite frock of point d'esprit over white taffeta silk. She was attended by one bridesmaid, Miss Olive Randle of Nanaimo, who wore cream silk voile with hat to match. At the conclusion of the ceremony the guests repaired to 878 Hornby street where a reception was held, among those present being Mr.

Ralph Smith, M.P., of Nanaimo, and Mrs. Smith. Numerous presents were received by bride and bridegroom. Subsequently the happy pair left for Seattle, from whence they will proceed up to Banff. On their return to this city they will take up their residence on Haro street.

Mr. T. W. Allington, of Vernon, who is at the Dominion, says that some strenuous lessons have been taught in that town lately to people who abuse dumb animal. One man was fined $50 for abusing his horse, beating it to death in fact: and another man $25 for kicking his dog.

The man that killed his horse by beating makes the salle excuse as Rojestvensky. He says that he was out of his head at the time. Mr. Samuel McClay, of this city, was in Vernon recently, says Mr. Allington, and induced Hermon Arnold, of the Vernon lacrosse club, to change his location to Vancouver, Mr.

Allington thinks that the Vancouber team that secures Arnold will have a first-class man. When Mr. Allington left. Principal Shaw. of the Vancouver high school.

See Roller Rink page three. Comb Honey at W. Clark's grocery, 328 Carrall street. OBITUARY HARRY GUILLOD. Harry Guillod, formerly Indian agent for the west coast, died a few days ago at his home in Alberni, B.

leaving a wife and three daughters to mourn his loss. He came to British Columbia via Panama, arriving in Victoria in July, 1862. After a short spell of mining, at which he did not attain much success, he became connected with the Anglican church as catechist under the late Bishop Hille. This work he pursued for several years among the Indians on the Songhees reservation and also at Alberni and Comox. During this period his original avocation of druggist enabled him to do much good among the natives.

He finally settled at Alberni and shortly afterwards married Miss Munro, sister to the late Major Ross Munro. The remains were interred at Alberni. the funeral being attended by a large number of Indians who much respected Mr. Guillod when he filled the position of Indian agent. WILLIAM FENTON.

The remains of the late William Fenton were interred on Thursday afternoon from the family residence. Grove street. Vancouver. There was a large attendance of family friends and members of the International Association of Machiniste, who turned out in A body. The Rev.

Dr. Fraser officiated. The pallbearers, who were all chosen from the association, Messrs. G. Sills, G.

Anderson, George Chapman, James Coldwell, George Nesbitt and Charles Gordon. MISS LIZZIE TOWNLEY. Mr. R. A.

Townley received a telegram from Toronto this morning announcing the death of his sister, Miss Lizzie Townley, aged 40. Besides the recipient of the message, the deceased lady has two other en brothers in Vancouver: James, of the Mainland Glass Works, and Samuel, a painter. Carpets and Linoleums at cost at McCuaig's.
