against Mrs Blanch Espitallier Rock Springs Wyo driver of an automobile which figured in a fatal collision at the intersection of the Versailles and Mason-Headley pikes Saturday afternoon March 13 All three suits were filed by Paul Warden two of them as administrator of the estates of members of his family who were killed or fatally injured in the crash and one for nimsclf He asked $20000 damages for the death of his wife Mrs Florence Edna Warden who was killed and the same amount of damages for the death of his four-year-old son Joe Edward Warden who died two days after the accident For himself Mr Warden asked $2200 damages Hearing of evidence in the case had not been completed when this report dosed A directed verdict for one of the defendants the Union Transfer and Storage Company was given in the case of Ben Montgomery and Jasper Tate vs the transfer firm and Penn Brothers On motion of the plaintiffs the case was then dismissed without prejudice as to the suit against the second defendant Penn Brothers The plaintiffs had sought a $900 judgment for damages to a motor truck involved in a collision on the Richmond pike Testimony showed that the truck had collided with a Penn truck after it had stopped on the highway behind a transfer company truck Counsel for the plaintiffs had contended that the accident was caused by the quick stopping of the transfer and Penn Brothers' trucks Montgomery driver of the plaintiff's truck testified that the latter truck stopped quickly in front of him without any warning and that due to the icy condition of the road he was unable to stop before his truck struck it The transfer truck was not involved in the crash Class Play To Open Commencement Week At Owingsville High Special to The Leader OWINGSVILLE Ky May Comencement exercises at Owingsville high school will begin Friday night when the junior high school graduates will present the class exercises including the class play School Days" in the school auditorium The baccalaureate sermon will be delivered by the Rev Cooper pastor of the Methodist church at the Presbyterian church at 11 Sunday morning The graduation exercises of the senior class of the high school Paris elected president of the Bourbon County Game and Fish Protective Association at a meeting held last week has announced that a drive for membership and a continuance of the program sponsored by the club last year will be the immediate objectives of the association at this time Among other items that are being worked out by the local sportsmen are abatement of stream pollution the erection of a series of dams throughout the county and a strict adherence to the game laws through co-operation with conservation agents He stated that a dam built last summer in Houston creek and recently opened by the city of Paris which will erect a new bridge over the creek at a nearby point will be rebuilt immediately after the city work is done Other officers elected at the last meeting were Dr Eugene Miss Beulah Colvin and was taken to the hospital where he remains in an unconscious condition Persons who saw the accident stated that Smith attempted to make a short turn and overturned his car He is
