isolated from police work areas have a booking area where nothing for them to grab nothing for them to Grover said way nobody gets City Administrator Barbara Vernon said the project did not require a public vote although the city will sell bonds to finance the project About $80000 of the yearly debt service would come from money that will become available when other city bonds are paid off this year Other money will come from funds previously budgeted for the new radio system which now will be put into the bond issue That leaves about 1 00000 that will be needed each year Vernon said and the City Council still must decide how to raise that money 59 employees Storage space is inadequate Detention cells meet state standards for prisoner safety Privacy is lacking both for officers conferring with superiors and for crime victims recounting sensitive events to detectives Officers must lug heavy pieces of evidence up and down stairs between the garage and the property room Lockers are so tiny that civilian employees must put on their uniforms at home Because unarmed vulnerable to attack by people who are belligerent toward persons in uniform No public restroom is easily accessible after City Hall business hours too easy now for prisoners to bolt through outside doors to freedom grab the gun of a passing officer or assault someone with a piece of equipment kept in the booking
