The extortionist apparently demanded t5ie ransom, in return for the name of the ship aboard which the bomb allegedly was planted. The Cunard spokesman said: 'The alert hasn't been called off yet, but we are satisfied that searches carried out by captainr have shown absolutely nothing." Last May 17, Cunard's London office received a telephone threat to Wow up the company's flagship, the QE2, unless half a million dollars in ransom was paid. The vessel then was in mid-Atlantic with 2,350 passengers and crew aboard.

The caller said two accomplices were aboard to detonate the 'bombs. British bomb experts were parachuted to the shin and found no bombs aboard.
