impairments Last July I printed a plea from Jill Seagren an audiologist who wrote about Hear Now and its National Hearing Aid Bank Jill described how Hear Now reconditions and repairs used hearing aids and gives them to needy individuals She then asked you my readers to donate your old or unused hearing aids and as usual you came through like the champions that you are Here is the letter from the president of Hear Now: Quite a response Dear Ann Landers: Thank you for that terrific column you printed July 17 about our organization The response has been beyond our wildest dreams Before that column appeared we had one part-time and two full-time people on sour staff Much to our dismay we were the best-kept secret in the country After your column appeared our world turned completely around More than 1 5000 hearing aids have been donated so far and we are still getting approximately 100 more every day also received thousands of letters from hearing impaired people asking for the devices
