The mission'to Moscow is being sponsored by The National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A., the nation's largest religious federation, made up of more than 35,800,000 members. Seading the deputation is the Council's president, the Rev. Dr.

Eugene Carson Blake. Dr. Blake is a relative newcomer to the top ranks of Protestant- sm and certainly less publicized other, more dramatic personalities. In the church world, however, he is known as an out- tanding executive and proponent of the ecumenical movement (or inter-church be termed a clergyman's clergyman. He is also the Stated lerk, or chief executive officer, of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A.

Improved Relations Concerning the trip to Moscow, Dr. Blake said before he left: "We believe that improved re- ations between nations require a HOLY FAMILY CHURCH When Business or Pleasure Brings You to Mason City Sunday masses 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12:15 noon. When I interviewed him recently Dr. Blake pictured a young giant, occasionally an awkward one.

Six years ago, it existed only on paper. Today it is a powerful combine of 13 constituent communions and 144,000 churches, with 38.6 per cent of the total church -membership of the United States. Dr. Blake will head it until next December. Unity and Diversity Dr.

Blake regards the National Council as a "Christian community having both unity and diversity. The danger that the Council may simply become a bureaucracy of overlapping denominations is a "bogey-man," Dr. Blake declared. But the Council is still so new that at times its machinery creaks. You have to expect clashes," he said.

"You get nearer the truth with a clash than you do with sterile uniformity. We've got to a point where we can differ deeply, without splitting, but arriving at a point of creative tension." He regards anti-intellectualism as the greatest present danger outside and within the churches: "We saw its most horrible aspects in the nihilism of Hitter and the Nazis. But I think too many of not recognize the danger churches them- succumb to the too-prevalent mood of the hour and become impatient with those who insist upon asking the deepest and sometimes most abstruse theological questions." we run in the selves when we Orton Refuses to Drop Out of Race for U. Orton said no one from Des Koines or the NFO had asked him to withdraw and he added: 'I'm in the race to stay. If anyone wants put on pressure let them do it Nixon Breaks Tie Vote on Price Issue A tie-break- vote by Vice 'President Nixon Friday night narrowly saved the administration's flexible farm price support program on wheat. The 46-45 vote to reject a higher, rigid support level contrasted sharply with the 54-41 tally the day before on supports for cotton, corn and peanuts, In addition to Nixon, 34 Republicans and 11 Democrats supported the administration stand, while 11 Republicans and 34 Democrats voted against it. The Nixon tally knocked out a special system of rigid price supports proposed for "quality milling wheat" and set off an angry parliamentary row that lasted for hours. To Continue Sen. Gore CD-Tenn), who challenged decisions of Nixon and the Senate parliamentarian on the vice president's right to vote, in this particular parliamentary situation, promised to continue his battle Monday.

The Senate uproar over the wheat vote came after Senate clerks made a mistake and announced- defeat of the higher supports by a 46-45 margin. Majority Leader Lyndon B. Johnson (D-Tex) managed to get Sen. Green (D'-RT), who had voted against high wheat to switch his vote. But a recheck showed only 9o! votes cast the actual tally then a 45-45-tie.

Nixon broke by voting to knock out the higher wheat supports. Wheat Props The action, if sustained by the House, would leave the support price on wheat at the $1.81 a bushel, fixed for this year's crop instead of raising it to about $2.26. Gore tried to get agreement for a new vote on the issue Monday, but was blocked by Senate Republican Leader Knowland of California. A switch in votes by a number of Republicans senators from western wheat states caused the changed lineup from Thursday's 54-41 vote on other crops, Still in the complicated bill was special two-price system for effort to strip this from measure may reach a vote The Best to See Is on CHANNEL 3 KGLO-TV 100,000 WATTS CBS TELEVISION Everywhere You Go There's RADIO KGLO DH noo CBS 500 Watts KGLO-FM 2:45 to 10:15 P.M. 8:00 p.m. TWO FOR THE TV Show on Baby's Birth Is Cancelled HOLLYWOOD (UP)-The NBC television network has cancelled Monday's scheduled "Medic" program showing the birth of a baby by Caesarian section. It had been reported that the network had received a letter from Francis Cardinal Spellman, archbishop of New York, objecting to the proposed show but a spokesman for the cardinal denied this. The cardinal's secretary said a letter objecting to the nature of the program had been written to NBC by the Rev. Timothy J.

Flynn, director of radio and television for the archdiocese of New York. The spokesman said the Rev. Flynn wrote the letter "on his own hook" and said the letter had nothing to do with the cardinal. The network said the cancelled half-hour show would be replaced by a re-run of one of last year's programs. The cancellation will cost NBC $35,000, it was reported.

The Caesarean birth of TV's Medic, an actual operation filmed recently in a local hospital, was to have been the first time the birth of a baby would be shown in either TV or movies. It was uncensored from start to finish.
