The meeting follows similar audiences with North Vietnamese leaders and a controversial audience with South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu last month in which the Pope questioned Thieu closely about political prisoners being held in South Vietnam jails. Vatican officials said the Viet Cong delegation was to be led by Nguyen Van Hieu, minister of state and head of the Viet Cong's Provisional Revolutionary Govemnent (PRG) delegation at the Paris talks. Also in the delegation was , f Van Loe, counsel to Hieu, who arrived in Rome Friday and conferred privately with Archbishop Agostino Casaroli, the Vatican's equivalent to the U.S. secretary of state., Vatican sources said Loc ::rfe:::::::-::?' cleaning ana rep.
