The citizens of Lewiston held a mass meeting Wednesday evening to consider the good loads proposition. The meeting was largely attended and the matter was discussed at great length. The sentiment was decidedly in favor of good roads and tho employment of most any means to get them, bonding If necessary. The Lewiston people want their own road lixed of course. II.

A. Hendricks, County Commissioner was present and gave the meeting the advantage of the recent Investigations. At the general meeting Sunday afternoon, three returned missionaries told of their work In the different llelds. llorton Leavitt has been laboring In the Southwestern states, and Win. Wheeler In Australia.

John II. Wclscr is one of the three just returned. They talked very entertainingly of their labois and said that the work is progressing steadily. George W. Squires went to Logan Thursday.

George has recently added another chair to his barber shop and will be open at all hours. He has recently removed his household eiTects Into tho home formerly owned by Charles Pond. Joseph Smith's seven-months' old girl baby died of pneumonia Wednesday morning at six o'clock. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. The community sympathizes with the family in their loss.

Mrs. A. C. Smith, of Franklin, Is a new addition to our town. She has just opened up a lirst-class millinery establishment.

This fable, dealing with the fall of Wltte, the Russian finance minister, is related In a recent brochure entitled, "A Glance at the Secrets of Russian Policy," published at Vienna: "The czar dreamed the following singular dream.

He saw three cows, one fat, one lean and one blind. The next day he sent for tho Metropolitan Pal-lndltis and begged him to explain the dream, but the metropolitan declined. Tho czar then sent for Father John of Kronstadt and made the same request to him. Parkinson Reunion, Tno reunion of the family of Samuel R. Parkinson at Fianklln Tuesday was a grand affair, Judging from the account in the Cache Valley News. That paper devotes two columns descriptive of the pleasures of thu day, a i portion of which is as follows: The exorcises of the day began at 1 o'clock p.

m. The program was divided into two divisions, the Grandchildren occupying the time from i 1 until 4 o'clock p. m. In rendering their little songs, lecltatlons and music for Grandpa. From 4 o'clock until 0 o'clock, the family partook of the bounteous dinner which had been arranged by the committee.

At 0 o'clock tho evening's exercises began, consisting of songs, sketches and Instrumental music by the older members of the family. Among tho parts rendered during the day, two deserve special notice; 1st, the hlstorlc.il sketch of the father's life prepaied and delivered by William, which showed that Patriarch Samuel R. Parkinson lias had a most remarkable career; having circumnavigated the globe when but a boy. In Ills young manhood he settled at St. Louis, Mo.

where he met his Hist wife. After their marriage, they migrated with the Latter-day Saints to these valleys wheic they passed through every stage of pioneer life, going thiough all of the hardships consequent to those eaily days In Utah and Idaho. To him belongs the honor of being one of the tlrst to build a school house In the state of Idaho, lie has been one of the most loyal supporters of the cause of education and lias done much in support of our local commonwealth. 2nd. The April term of court began Tuesday. A. M. Clayton asked that he bo allowed to plead on Wednesday and court adjourned until that time. His attorneys tiled demurrers and demanded a bill of particulars.

The demurrer was overruled and Clayton then pleaded not. guilty to the three counts. Friday, April 22nd, was set as the day of trial. Clayton's counsel asked for tho privilege of photographing a certain page of one of the county tax rolls, and the permission was granted. An order was made Instructing the Clerk to notify the Jurors not to be present In court until the 22nd of tills month.
